Aftab should play instead of Ash, and Kapali should be in Aftab's batting slot. This is a test match, and even a 40 ball hanging-around session is better than half that. We cant bludgeon Aftab's confidence more by kicking him out all of a sudden, and we cant tolerate 2 idiots. So I'd pick Aftab, the lesser of the two evils since Kenya series started! It would also punish Ashraful for his attitude. 3-in-1 option here for BD cricket!

According to the First Test, he doesn't deserve to be in the test team. Lets see if he can improve in the second test.

Time for ashraful to take a bit rest like rajin and come back again. Aftab should be allowed to play natural game. His natural defense is offense. When he is forced to do other way, he wont be successful. IF he can score so fluently in ODI, why not in test? He has the ability. Let him decide which way to play.

Ashraful should get serious consideration to be dropped. This fella is good for nothing. Once in a blue moon he hits something.

Ashraful is a total waste. he has the talent but he is too arrogant to use it. he is the only batsman in the team to play all the shots but some how he manages to play the wrong shots.

Same goes for aftab. he has a tendency to play the ball on the air. he is aggressive but he was confused about his style, whethter he should go after the bowlers or defend everything.

Khaled masud is not as good as he was before with the bat and that should be taken in consideration. i am not saying he should be dropped but our batsman should remeber that and play sensibly. cause when pilot comes to bat he can only support the batsman on the other end and build up a partnaership. and for that a good batsman is neccessary to be on the other end. aftab should realise that when he gets out our tail is exposed. so he should not play rash shots and choose shots carefully.

i don't see any good players in place of aftab. Nafees iqbal is an opener and he will take omar's place sooner or later. and tusher imran is no good in national team. he is another "Rokon". So ashraful and Aftab should realise their importance in the team and play accordingly for our country's sake

Aftab should not be in Test side against champion spinners like Warne and Mcgill. He doesn't have a clue how to play proper spinners and in this match his technique was absolutely owefull! Also, temperment is not his greatest forte! He is very good for the ODIs,though!

I know it will be tough against Aftab (just one match) but I want to see Kapali in his place for the second match.

Default What is wrong ?

Everybody is talking about Aftab to axed from the team. Why ?
1. He doesn't score many runs in this two innings? (Ash does less then him)
2. He don't have a solid defence (Bashar also)
3. He is a one-day player (There is nothing in BD as one-day or test speacialist, remember Rajn enter into the squad making a one-day century and that is against Kenya)
4. He plays too many shots (Ash also).
Remember that not a single excuse can ruled him our from the test squad. Someone might say that Ash is more experienced then Aftab. What is the value of that experience that can't help the tem to rescue from trouble. Aftab stays 73 min. in second inngs while ash might be 15-20 min. (As i m not sure). But still if ash got a second chance after showing this poor performance for a long time and hang around with the team, how could u axed aftad for just one test performance within one year or so.

Well, Test and ODI are not the same! One can be one dimensional in the ODIs and get away with it but not in the test!

Please ask yourself your own question. Ashraful may have been unlucky to be out, but he was lucky to be in after facing all those other balls. His attitude and shots were obnoxious at times. And his batting seemed far from the composed and tempered attitude that was required - in both the innings when he came to bat! It is continually irresponsible of him.

This is why I am so annoyed by people calling for Aftab's head. Just because Ash has a few centuries doesnt make him the better option. In both innings, Aftab did better in building a partnership than Ashraful, and scored more runs too. If you are calling for Aftab to sit it out, then take Ash with you.

But if you think you want an aggressive player, its high time Ashraful gets punished and is made to sit out and correct himself like Rajin, and Aftab should be given his slot. Aftab - because he's been wrecked by the selectors decisions and comments and expectation! There should be none of these ruining the future career of a promising player! We owe him a chance to correct himself. Kapali should not be brought in at Aftab's expense, he should be there to fill the slot if and when Ashraful goes.

aftab is a great player for both odi and test. he was dropped against srilanka which i believe was a mistake. he just had a bad game. i think he should play his natural game. he is a great talent and i think he is equally good for both test and odi. he needs little more time to make an impact in test. i am sure he will come back and perform well in second test.

As long as we're not hoping for test draws or playing test matches to draw them, all our ODI specialists should play in Test cricket. Because this is the place for the experienced and inexperienced youngsters where they have some time to learn. And when our players - youngsters especially, are not learning after playing tons of test matches, if they're repeating the same mistakes, then they should go. And Ashraful falls in that category, whereas Aftab has not had enough time in test cricket to really realize what test match cricket is all about, and it was criminal for Bashar to get himself runout in such a crucial time!Talking about learning, I had seen Mashrafee had grown some attitude in the 1st test, which clearly shows that he needs to learn something about his attitude (And it clearly showed that even though he may have played for Bangladesh for ages, his time of actually spent during injury had not helped him to mature as expected). On the other hand, Rafique had proved to us that how valuable is an experienced player when he is on song.

I don't necessarily agree with the problems arising from his lack of technique. Most of our players don't have sound techniques, barring Ashraful. His main problem lies in his approach towards the game. His aggression isn't controlled, a vice he shares with his mate Ash.

It will be unfair to sit him out in the 2nd test. He hasn't done anything horribly wrong. Besides, too much chopping and changing in a team that was 70-80 runs short of beating the world's best team, isn't a good idea. They have a chemistry and it seems to work very well - in fact, better than most other cricket teams you will find around the world. Aftab deserves more opportunities to establish himself in the team and translate his chances into runs. If he continues a poor run at the end of this series, only then should we re-evaluate his necessity in the team and search for alternate options. Don't forget that we already have a resurgent Tushar Imran and a hard-done Kapali knocking at the door. I'm sure Aftab is aware of that. Hopefully he will pick up his game and play more responsibly not for himself, but for the sake of his team.

Totally agree with you carte... I can't believe people has already started talking about dropping ash... I mean come on... I know he is irresponsible and all but give him another chance... he just made a century few test ago... same goes with aftab... he was quite impressive on both innings eventhough the way he got out was kinda disappointing... I m sure he will learn things with time and will only gonna get better... we have a bright future ahead of us with young players like ash, aftab or shahriar nafees getting valuable experiences

sorry can't agree with you, may be in your view Aftab is kinda genoius as he proved with two innings that he is not near to paly test yet. Perhaps good option for one day. One the contrary Alok is far more pact batsman with the calm donw mentality(which we need most in the test) and very much able to play with the full face of bat which was very much lacking from Aftab. I'm also fan of Aftab for his oneday playing style, but from last two innings I see he needs more time for test. Aftab was more like kinda addicted to risk some big shots, and he got his prize

Kapali deserve always with the team, there are plenty of players in current team not doing much better than Kapali, so give up break mate.

Unless selectors can motivate aftab to play his natural game, he would be dropped and Kapali will be back. I agree Kapali is not in his good days with the ball but have to remember a test hatrick against pakis. Provided that the pitch will be turning, we may want to try to add one more occasional spinner in the team. And if his bat sings, it would terrefic for BD.

I dont know whether everybody will agree with me. It seems to me that Aftab is a more consistent than Ash. All he needs right now is a healthy score to start with. We can wait till than as we have been waiting for Ash to play a good knock.

Absolutely - I agree fully. If we can wait for Ashraful, we MUST wait for Aftab too. He's been toyed with as it is!

A big NOOOOOOOO!! He and His no 6 position, temperment, style is useless against McGill or australian spin attack. I always wanted him in Test team before the series. Its time now face the reality. I know its hurts. We are a much more balance team now. Some good inform player are waiting in Squad. Bring Alok in...we will get one more bowler....
