Very good fighting performance from BD-A. Scoring 250+ is always good in confidence building. If they continue scoring like this, win is sure to follow more often.

Default we can win

since the bd u19 match vs asu u19 match, we won so many games that we probably did not win in last several years. this is a very good sign. and whenever we lost, we didn't give up fighting until the end of the game. we did not loose ahead of time as what we used to do before. all these are good sign.

still i feel disappointed because we could win this series leaving a game in hand.

Default Zimbabwe draw series level, decider today

The Zimbabwe A team registered a significant 16-run win against Bangladesh A at Khulna Stadium on Monday which helped the tourists level the series 2-2.

Winning the toss Zimbabwean captain Alester Maregwede elected to bat first and his top order responded to the decision positively. Two reliable half centuries by opener Brendon Taylor (72) and in-form Elton Chigumbura (53) and a 49-run innings from Richard Sims helped Zimbabwe score 275 runs in the stipulated 50 overs losing nine wickets. Apart form these three top order batsmen, the other five Zimbabwean lower batsmen failed to score double-figures, which prevented them from reaching the three hundred-run mark.

Taylor took 105 balls hitting eight boundaries and a huge six. Only left arm spinner Abdur Razzak was effective against Zimbabweans taking four wickets for 54 runs but could not affect the result of the match.

In reply, Bangladesh managed to collect 259 runs in 49.4 overs losing all the wickets, just 17 runs short from the winning target. National league hero Faisal Hossain again scored an attacking 74 off 62 balls including seven boundaries, which made him the man of the match later. Al Shahrier also scored a century (52) when lower order Alamgir Kabir added 27 runs off 22 balls but their endeavours went in vain.

Gavin Ewing eliminated three wickets for Zimbabwe when Jordane Nicolle took two wickets.

The two teams will play their fifth and final one-day match at the same venue today to decide the series. Bangladesh Cricket Board decided to curtail 10 overs from each innings of this match reasoning ‘logistical difficulties’. According to concerned quarters, the hartal called by opposition party on April 7 created a transportation problem for the players, which compelled the BCB to reduce the length of the match and send players back as soon as possible.

Reducing the match to 40 overs per innings will definitely hurt the rythm of the match. It might also proved to be heart breaking for BD-A as they continue to find Zim-A top order harder to negitiate. One glimse of hope though is our in form batsmen apart from Rajjak.

Good Match! I really hope we win the 5th one...will do a world of good to win the series for our young players...Faisal looks like he has the stomach for a good fight! good for him ANd razzak seems to have the wicket taking ability. I guess the main challenge in the 5th match will be to curtail the Zim A top order.

All these matches revelaed a true fact- that our two main opening pacers are basically bums. Every match the Zimbaweans openers raced and piled up runs while kabir and tareq were operating. Only the introduction of spinners got us wkts and slowed run rates. This could be looked as fact finding series before we go to the carribean. The fact remains, tareq and alamgir are not worty of national team spot and we are better off leaving them behind and pack the team with spinners- our strength. We have a plethora of left handed spinners..rafiq, rana, raj, enamul. They have far more potential than the other pedestrian seamers.

You've got a point there beamer. We have to play our strengths. Unless the quality quickie such as Mashrafee's bowling the opening overs, there are no other way for us to stem the runs. If we are to win, we have to control the tempo of the game. If this means introduce spin early, so be it. We've got quality spinners, why not? I think this applies to the seniors also.

Default May be we could start a new tradition

A QUARTRET of spinners!!!

How is that for a wacko idea?! Since spin is our strength..may be we could specialise in that. Take 4 spinners and one pacer. Open with the pacer and one spinner who preferably bowls pacy spin (a la Kumble) and can spin the new ball! And then follow up with 3 other spinners who can turn the ball big...

Now.. this is what is called thinking outside the box :P

Not really such a wacko idea. Remember the Indian Spin Quartet from the 60s/70s.

Indians Venkat, Bedi, Chandrasekhar and Prasanna took 853 wickets in comparison to the 835 by the famed WIndian Pace Quarter (Marshall, Garner, Croft and Holding) in about a similar length of time.

Bishan Singh "Murali is a thief and a dacoit" Bedi
Bhagwat Chandrasekhar
Erapalli Prasanna
Srinivas Venkataraghvan

Can the BCB think out side the box?

if my memory is not deceiving me, danny morison used to open for NZ as well. even shahadat is not very impressive yet. he needs some "ghasha maza" under a qualified coach. until then (when he's ready and masri is back) we may try more spinners.

Not a new idea.
Not a wacko idea.
Not outside the box either.
Just another practical idea, it seems.

Shahadat played in the 4th ODI without making any impact. Bit disappointing to be honest.
