Default Expectations for the Test Series

Here is what I rather ‘expected’ from the BD team before their WI tour started :
ODI
BD would be whitewashed –that was not unexpected, but I really wanted to see tough fights and WI working very hard for the wins.
Test
Not a win... rather I wanted atleast one real Draw : a full 5 day hard earned draw!!

Now here is what my expectations are at the middle of the tour :
ODI
as you all can see... I have been disappointed, because apart from the first match, the last two were quite one-sided and WI dint really have to work hard for winning them. I would give much of the responsibilities to the Batting squad for this.
Test Predictions
I think my expectation of having atleast one real ‘Draw’ in test will also not be met. Because the team just doesn’t seem to be working hard enough to earn it.(OK I will keep bowlers out from this allegation)

Any predictions otherwise from you people??

all test either lost by

1) innings and 200 runs
or
2) 9/7 wkts

BD's highest total will be 300.
where two batsmen will score 50+
else
150 where none will reach 20's

WI will score 600.
where three batsmen will score 100
pacers will rip off our batting order

as test is a longer version
they have to return to the pavilion before
lunch..so guess what...the score might go down 50-.

Three spinners will show their spin magic
by giving away 200 runs , that's logic

we already know that WI players are not
doing bad at all with our spin so, one more spinner being added will make their
life more ezier.

and after all these bashing BD team will
return home happily ever after.

Overall, I see glimpses of hope for our bowlers, especially spinners. I expected WI to win but watch out for another scare for the Windies, as they still will show impatience against spin.

I think Rana and Enamul Jr. will do wonder.

I would like to share one thing with you all, its about this Rana kid.

He let down one catch yesterday, later on his 1st over, 1st bowl, he got D. Smith LBW. You should have seen his face, full of vengence. You could read his mind, something like, "I am not sorry any more, I got my honor back".

Very rarely I see this kind of determination in other BD players. For example, Bashar giving interview after the game, and there was a naive smile, (Read the article on this)and now I can relate to Zunaid's comment about "Where is the Fire" (another thread).

I will try to get these two clips for you guys to evaluate, and find out how true I am.

Good luck to youngsters!

I don't think either of the test matches will last the distance. We simply don't have the batting resources for a long innings. Also I expect our bowlers to bundle Wi out in their first innings pretty quickly. So all it is all everything points to a pretty short test match.

Having said that I am expecting a lot from Javed Omar and Hannan. If they can somehow survive the initial heat from Best and Edwards, we are in with a real shot at a decent innings. However Omar is coming from injury so it may not be that easy for him to get into the thick of things quickly.

MY predictions:

First Test: Windies win by 4 wickets
Second test: Windies win by 6 wickets.

No innings defeat!

I have the same feeling pompous. Our batting is just too brittle to go the distance. Thats why I would like to have six specialist batsmen. golla, hannan, shumon, rajin, ash, faisal. one all rounder-mushfy or rana ( dictated by the pitch). pilot the wkt and three bowlers in rafiq, tareq and tapash. Now, if enamul does well in the practice match, we may have to take him as the fourth bolwer in place of the all rounder or the sixth batsman. big gamble going with five batsman though.

My Expectations...

WI fast bowlers will be at their best
Best
Edwards
Collins
+(who ever)

WI will want to bat first and *try* to post a huge total, and with Lara sure to come back, he's not easy to bowl spin to, even spinners like Murali had a hard time getting him (and sarwan) out.

But... BD will put a a strong fight and may very well hold out for draw, lets see.

WI is much stronger in ODI then test. Bowler can hold pace for 10 overs. It is not easy to maintain pace for 20 over. In test batsman can pick their shot better then ODI,as getting more run is the main motive. If BD players use their head that god has given them, they can be much stronger opponent in test.

I have lost appetite for prediction.

I think Bangladesh will do good in their 1st innings of the 1st test and the 2nd innings of the 2nd test. But still will loose by quite a margin. Bangladesh doesn't have bowlers to out 20 batsmen in a test match unless WI plays horrible.

I just hope they fight real hard like they did in Pakistan. That's all I want.

Just wait and see guys...we will win our first test match in the Carribean

Most of you are sceptical about a win but frankly speaking, after all those close calls we have been having in the last few tests and odis, I think it's about time we fans get rewarded!

Well I'd expect the batsmen to put up a much better show and score in excess of 300 runs; as for the bowlers, I'd like to see Tareq shine along with the spinners. This guy Tareq may suck but he does pick up valuable wickets.
