Thumbs up Ashraful eyes repeat of heroics

MOHAMMAD ASRAFUL
wants history to repeat it self
----------------------------------------------------------------
DHAKA, Aug 28: Bangladesh skipper Mohammad Ashraful is confident his team can reach the second round of the Twenty20 World Championship, emulating their performance in the one-day version of the tournament earlier this year.

Bangladesh face hosts South Africa and the West Indies in the group stage of the 12-team championship.

“We’ve done it once,” he said on Tuesday. “Naturally, we are confident that we can do it again.”

In March, Bangladesh stunned India in the group phase of the World Cup in the Caribbean to reach the Super Eights round, where they also beat South Africa.—Reuters

That's good news. But this time the aim should be semi-final, not only second round.

Default Mashrafe the Key, says the Captain

The meat of the matter, in Ash's own words-

Quote:
"Mashrafe is our key player in T20 cricket. A lot of our success or failure would depend on him."

The Prothom Alo link for those who read Bangla:http://www.prothom-alo.com/mcat.news...xMDg=&mid=OA==
I hope Mash responds well to the pressure. If anyone can in our team, it is bound to be him ... genuine bagher bachcha ...

Well, don't like to be negative, but that's not that relieving.

This guy can't get his yorkers right 80% of the time and bats at eight or so.

Ashraful, being the captain should be the backbone. This guy has talent, but does not make full use of it. I dont think that the team should depend on Mashrafee all the time. He is a good hitter of the ball, but he is human. Each batsman should try and make a decent contribution, especially Tamim and Aftab, they can hit a cricket ball really hard.

They are playing 2 strong teams, I dont think that they can beat the West Indies, they know how to play 20/20s, they might have a chance with SA, if they can get herchelle Gibbs out.

Making in second round is just a hope which is least a team can hope for. Bangladesh team morale is down. They are not up to the mark to represent in this tournament as you can see with their mentality. BD team needs to grow out of making to the second round approach.

Kumble to Mash: Sorry, there isn't much time inbetween the WC and BD series. Players would be tired.
(Implying that India would reach the finals of 2007 and would not have much time to prepare for BD series and players would be all wasted)

The rest was history. India only had 3 matches to play in the World Cup 2007.

Interesting interview...

He didn't know the culture of cricket.. hmm that give me clue why he would do some silly stuff to get out. cause if you knew the history you would know how bad it is to get out before tea break or right after one etc etc...

anyway good luck to him
