whatever our selectors do they need to stay in touch with the players continously...they need to tell the players why they r being dropped.. what they should work on...n that they are there to help the players whenever they need any help...but that wud only happen in an ideal world...

getting fed up of ashraful. asaad bhai put it properly : gotta stay over the fact that he wont get dropped. he'll remain the invincible figure that he is in the team.

tamim
imrul
junaid
raquibul
ashraful
mehrab jr
mushfiq
shakib
mashrafee
enamul jr
mahbubul

nafis
naeem
shahadat
rasel

i always believed razzak is an ODI specialist. so enamul jr will always get my nod to be in the test team ahead of razzak. i pray that shahadat gets benched, even after an okay-performance with the ball in south africa. he needs to smarten up, like i've said it for the hundredth time this time! the lankan batsmen will tear his short-pitch pretending-to-be-fast deliveries up like there's no tomorrow. and mehrab jnr gets in over naeem. i believe naeem is a no. 4/5 caliber batsman, so playing him down so low in the order and then not bowling him is a waste of a spot. i rather have mehrab get more experience to shun up his skills out in the middle.

Too many Goru's I mean gurus in your team. Looks like Tehsin bhai wants to come and join the party before the series starts.

Go ahead with this. They can't do worse than an innings defeat.

Seriously though, I don't think we have any more players in the pipeline to use as a replacement. So I'd stick with the current team. Though we must treat the newcomers like Kayes or Nayeem with due caution. We don't want another Ash do we?

And like always, our batting spearhead must find his trigger against his favourite opponents. Our bowling wil remain dependent on Sakib, Mash, and perhaps Robin. SL faced some serious trouble from Zim pacer and off spinners. So perhaps Nayeem can be given a try.

Truth is no matter how much problem our pacers cause at the end of the day it will be the spinners getting the wicket. And i wonder if having an extra specialist spinner could have made a difference. This is a key learning. As in economics every country has its comparitive advantage. Ours is a plethora of good spinners, its a pity we dont utlize them.
Well we don't have too many options going in with four bowlers in the first place now, do we? If we are going to have a decent bowling attack, we need to drop a batsman and pick a bowler. An extra batsman won't take the total to 300, but an extra bowler could ensure that we don't give away too many, so that we can avoid inning losses albeit our tail-enders at the top of the order scoring ducks in succession.

Yeah, we just don't have the luxury of burdening someone else with the captaincy at this point. So Ashraful lives. I have a similar attitude towards some of the relatively new players in the team - while I don't think Imrul and Nayeem are ready for test cricket yet, I'd stick to them, grudgingly, because dropping them now won't solve anything. I wouldn't like them in the XI though, mostly because I don't see a point of having three openers in the XI and because I think we're playing too many batsmen.

The only problem with that is Enam doesn't seem to be ready yet. I'm not sure what he's up to at the Ranji these days (other than the fact that he's getting belted around), but the last time I checked he was trying too many things, so much so that he was having trouble settling down to a stable bowling action. Razzak, on the other hand, has added minor variations to his bowling and looked pretty good against New Zealand in the very last inning of the first test. I still think it will pay off in the long run if we stick to him, because he seems to be the kind of person who thinks about his game and learns fast too without overdoing it.

Remember guys, the selectors said earlier that Ash would be captain for the rest of the year so this is his last series to try to impress. I think he will perform big time to not lose his captaincy. Plus, Ash plays his best Test Cricket against Sri Lanka.

So my proposed lineup:

1. Tamim Iqbal
2. Mehrab Hossain Jr.
3. Mushfiqur Rahim
4. Raqibul Hasan
5. Mohammad Ashraful
6. Shakib Al Hasan
7. Naeem Islam
8. Mashrafe Mortaza
9. Shahadat Hossain
10. Abdur Razzak
11. Mahbubul Alam

I moved Mushy up due to the fact that he has been performing well lately especially at home. He also batted well against Sri Lanka the last time they came to BD.

I picked Mehrab as an opener because he has performed quite well at home.

The reason I picked both Razzak AND Naeem is due to the act that our home soil is favorable to spin.

My lineup includes 5 specialist batsmen(Tamim,Mehrab,Raqibul,Ash,and Mushy)
2 Allrounders(Shakib and Naeem)
4 specialist bowlers(Mash,Shahadat,Robin,and Razzak)

What do you guys think?

i think they're playing one batsmen too many and that naeem is wasting a spot because he's a batsman but he's batting at 8 and barely bowling. thing is though i think it's unfair to drop naeem or imrul until they've been given a shot in home conditions. also if we're to bring in another bowler i'd prefer it to be either sajidul or razzak, tbh i wouldn't mind seeing another pacer in the team although if you're just looking for someone to hold up an end then i guess you'd go with razzak.
