The word is Rubel needs surgery. Shafiul doesn't, just rest.

Once Rubel comes back then I think Shahadat would be gone from the ODI team since we don't 2 wicket taking bowlers. Shahadat should still be a fixture for the Test squad.

Shahadat should be dropped from all teams. I am in the "what have you done for me lately" club and he has done squat. Right now, Mash and Nazmul could be the ODI pacers and Rubel and Nazmul could be the test pacers.

Shahadat can be pretty much deadly in seam-friendly pitches. So, unless we are playing a team on a seam friendly wicket. Shahadat shouldn't be picked in the XI. Esp. in ODI.

It's not like he doesn't have any control, he clearly can aim the short ball very well, troubled both Pak and Indi batsmen. It's because he knows he is going to bowl the short one when he does bowl it, and that's the only time he has some sort of clear plan going in his head. Other times he doesn't and he just runs, grunts and throws it down what ever comes out.

Do you know what Rubel averages in Tests? He is currently a much better ODI bowler. Was our best after Shakib last year. I hope he can maintain the same form on his return from injury.

Law prefers to have 3 pacers when playing at the SBNS. I hope he continues with this policy. It should be Mash/Nazmul/Rubel when they are all fit. In Chittagong however two pacers are more than enough.

বাংলানিউজ: আন্তর্জাতিক ক্রিকেটে স্থির হতে পারছেন না কেন?

সাহাদাত: একজন ক্রিকেটার সব সময় ফর্মে থাকার চেষ্টা করে। চোট থেকে ফেরার পর ফর্মে আসতে পারিনি। এছাড়া জেমি সিডন্স চলে যাওয়ার পর যে দু’জন কোচ এসেছেন তাদের সঙ্গে সেভাবে কাজ করা হয়নি। জেমি আমাকে খুব পছন্দ করতেন। বলতেন, তুমি টেস্টে খুব ভালো বোলার, আমি চাই ওয়ানডেতেও আসো। স্টুয়ার্ট ল’কে আমি সে ভাবে পাইনি। বর্তমান কোচ এখনো আমার খেলা দেখেন নি। আমার একটা সুযোগ দরকার। এশিয়া কাপের ফাইনাল ম্যাচের শেষ ওভারে খারাপ না করলে আমাকে দলের বাইরে থাকতে হতো না। কি আর করা, কপাল খারাপ।

বাংলানিউজ: আগের সাহাদাতকে কেন পাওয়া যাচ্ছে না?

সাহাদাত: আগের মতো বোলিং করছি। খুলনায় ‘এ’ দলের প্র্যাকটিস ম্যাচের প্রথম ওভার মনের মতো হয়নি। পরের তিন ওভারে তিন রান দিয়েছি। আগে ব্যাটসম্যানরা আমার বল খেলতে ভয় পেতো। আবারও ভয় পাবে। আমি শোয়েব আখতার, ব্রেট লি’কে অনুসরণ করি। তাদের মতো হতে হবে। খেলার মধ্যে থাকলে বোলিংয়ে ছন্দ থাকে। মানসিক ভাবে আমার খুব সাপোর্ট দরকার। জেমির সময়ে খুব খারাপ করিনি। লর্ডসে ভালো বোলিং করেছি। এই কোচের কাছ থেকে সাপোর্ট পেলে আমি দেশের একনম্বর বোলার হতে পারবো।

বাংলানিউজ: অভিযোগ আছে আপনি খুব অনিয়ম করেন, সে জন্য জাতীয় দলে নিয়মিত হতে পারছেন না?

সাহাদাত: একটা সময়ে অনিয়ম করতাম। রাতে দেরি করে ঘুমাতে যেতাম। প্র্যাকটিসে বেশি শ্রম দিতাম না। এখন ওসব ভাবলে খারাপ লাগে। এখন যা কিছু হচ্ছে তা আগে ফাঁকি দেওয়ার ফল। একটু বেশি পরিশ্রম করলে লাইন-লেন্থ ধরে বল করতে পারতাম। এখন অনেক পরিশ্রম করছি। একই গতিতে টানা ৬ ওভার বল করতে পারি।

বাংলানিউজ: ওয়ানডে ক্রিকেট নিয়ে ভাবেন?

সাহাদাত: আমি ওয়ানডে খেলতে পছন্দ করি। এশিয়া কাপে আরেকটু ভালো খেলতে পারলে ..। অনেক কিছু মিস করেছি। দেশের মাটিতে বিশ্বকাপ খেলতে পারিনি। অনেক সিরিজ খেলতে পারিনি। এখন আপসোস হয়। আমি আর কোনো কিছু মিস করতে চাই না। নিজেকে বদলে ফেলেছি। যত দিন ক্রিকেট খেলবো সুশৃঙ্খল থাকার চেষ্টা করবো।

বাংলানিউজ: কোন লক্ষ্য ঠিক করেছেন?

সাহাদাত: আমি এখন ২৪ বছরের। আরও ১০ বছর আন্তর্জাতিক ক্রিকেট খেলার ইচ্ছে। যেনতেন ভাবে নয়, দাপটের সঙ্গে খেলবো। আপাতত টেস্টে ২০০ এবং ওয়ানডেতে ১৫০ উইকেট নিতে চাই।

বাংলানিউজ: আপনার তো স্পোর্টস কারের খুব শখ, টাকা হলে কোন কোন ব্রান্ডের স্পোর্টস কার কিনবেন?

সাহাদাত: টাকা হলে ব্রান্ডের স্পোর্ট কার কিনবো। অনেক অনেক টাকা থাকলে লিমোজিন থাকবে।

বাংলানিউজ: আপনি খুব রাফ চালান বলে কেউ আপনার গাড়িতে উঠতে চায় না। আপনার ভয় করে না?

সাহাদাত: সত্যি বলতে আমার ভয় হয় না। যদিও আগের মতো রাফ চালাই না। অনেক নিয়ন্ত্রিত জীবনযাপন করি। একজন ক্রিকেটারকে অনেক সংযত থাকা উচিৎ।

বাংলানিউজ: আপনার তো সিনেমার নায়ক হওয়ার খুব শখ, কোনো প্রস্তাব পেয়েছেন?

সাহাদাত: হাসি..। এখন সিনেমার নায়ক হওয়ার শখ নেই। ক্রিকেট মাঠের নায়ক হলেই চলবে। আসলে বন্ধুদের পাল্লায় পড়ে ওসব ভাবতাম। আর কেউ আমাকে নায়ক হওয়ার প্রস্তাবও দেয়নি।

বাংলানিউজ: অনেকে আপনাকে এফডিসির সামনে দেখেছেন। এখনো দাঁড়িয়ে থাকেন?

সাহাদাত: আমি এফডিসির পাশের একটি গ্যারাজে গাড়ি ঠিক করাতে যেতাম। এফডিসির সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকি নি। ওখানে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকার প্রশ্নই আসে না।

বাংলানিউজ: রাত জেগে কি করতেন?

সাহাদাত: রাত জেগে সিনেমা দেখতাম। ফোনে বন্ধুদের সঙ্গে গল্প করতাম। ওসব অভ্যাস এখন নেই। বন্ধুদের আড্ডা থেকে বেরিয়ে এসেছি।

বাংলানিউজ: ক্রিকেট ছাড়া অন্য কিছু নিয়ে ভাবেন?

সাহাদাত: বনানীর ১৩ নম্বর সেক্টরে আমার একটি রেস্তোরা আছে। ‘এপেলবিস’ রেস্তোরার নাম। ক্রিকেটের বাইরে ওটা নিয়ে থাকি।

বাংলানিউজ: বাবা শাসন করেন?

সাহাদাত: আব্বা খুব শাসন করেন। খেলা নিয়ে বেশি শাসন করেন। জনাতে চান কেন এমন হচ্ছে? কেন জাতীয় দলে খেলতে পারছি না? ফ্যামিলির কারণে আমি জাতীয় দলে খেলতে পারছি। আব্বার জন্য হলেও আমি জাতীয় দলে খেলবো।

বাংলানিউজ: ব্যাটসম্যানদের আঘাত দিতে কেমন লাগে?

সাহাদাত: আঘাত দিতে ভালো লাগে। ব্যাটসম্যানরা যেমন বোলারদের চার-ছয় মারতে পারলে খুশি হয় তেমনি বোলাররাও খুশি হয় তাদের আঘাত করতে পারলে।

বাংলানিউজ: কাকে আঘাত করে খুশি হয়েছেন?

সাহাদাত: অনেক ব্যাটসম্যানকে আঘাত দিয়েছি। বেশি ভালো লেগেছে রাহুল দ্রাবিড়কে ইনজুড করতে পেরে। খারাপও লেগেছে রক্ত দেখে। তাকে হাসপাতালে দেখতে গিয়েছিলাম। তখন বেশি খারাপ লেগেছে।

বাংলানিউজ: কোন দেশের ক্রিকেটারদের সঙ্গে মাঠে আপনার বেশি কথা কাটাকাটি হয়?

সাহাদাত: ভারতের ক্রিকেটারদের সঙ্গে বেশি হয়। ওরা যেমন বলে আমিও বলি। শ্রীলঙ্কায় মাহেলার সঙ্গে একবার লেগেছিলো। এখন শ্রীলঙ্কার কেউ তেমন কিছু বলেন না।

No-one is FOR giving him another chance UNLESS and UNTILL he performs consistantly in the domestics for a long time.

Anyways, he has been given far too much chances for someone of his talent, if he has any. Bowling full tosses, pace-less short balls are only recipe for disaster if you are the bowler. Im suprised that he even got picked in the first place

he was quite decent in the early part of his career, somewhere along the way it went really really wrong and he has been unable to recover.
