Default specialist slip fielder

Mushys stupidity overshadowed a big problem with this team that was evident once again today. I noticed we have been missing quite a few catches at slip lately albeit some were hard chances. Mahmudullah is currently who is positioned there and i have to say he hasnt been the best. We had naeem and mashrafee there for todays match at some point and both dropped catches if i recall right. So the question is, do we have a better option for slip right now who is agile enough and have a safe pair of hands ? Or should we start grooming one ? I wonder if mahmudullah does anything extraordinary at practice to improve his slip catching ? It is something the coaches need to address as so far dropped catches lost us quite a few matches.

Being a slip fielder requires lightning fast reflexes and being swift, I'd say Anamul would make a good slip fielder since he is a wicket keeper he should have those qualities.

Have you seen how our players stand at the slip, they never ever able to take a catch the way they are standing, you need to bend down low as possible so that when ball comes your direction you can move easy and faster if you stand tall you never going to take any catch this is basic rule, I am not sure what coaching is doing or telling them.

One of the reasons why we're so bad at Test Cricket.

bhurir jonne bend down kora koshtokor hoye jai..

credit to mushy for picking the second slowest/tallest fielder in the team as the slip catcher for spin bowling. I think he will replace Mash with another great slip fielder Abdur Razzak in the next game

I feel every game the fielder stands even more wider than where he should be.

Most sensible thing to do! I think our players volunteer for the slip "Mushfiq Bhai, eibar ami darai slipe." Our captain probably doenst deny them the opportunity

Usually its the top order specialist batsman becomes specialist slip fielder. Mark Waugh, Dravid, Ponting, Kallis they are all top order batsman who are some of the successful slip fielder.
Why ? It requires focus and concentration with good reflex to make a good slip fielder.
Why do we have none ?
Look at our top order's batting record, you know why.
They are mutually exclusive.

Judging by that, either Naeem or Anamul should be specialist slip fielder.

Surely Anamul would be the obvious choice. Team maagement needs to think about their long term slip fielder. I hope they would rectify their decision and put Anamul there from the 4th ODI onwards.

Judging by Naeem's batting except that 1st test 1st innings....doesn't say that he has any patience.

Anamul. Has to have good reflex for keeping, plus has shown patience. Both required at slip.

If we put anamul at slip we will be loosing a great fielder on the field but I am all for it even if 80% of the catches are hold onto in exchange. Naeem won't be around in ODIs when Shakib comes back judging his atrocious form in ODI.

Tamim probably has the safest pair of hands in this team but I have never seen him at slip and he probably isn't interested which is okay because he fields quite well in the outer circle.

Nasir should always be at point.

Shakib is good at mid on, mid off area. Mominul is another good one who should be at square/ or mid on mid off area. So it all comes down to Anamul pretty much.

Anamul would be only good choice as he is another wicketkeeper.

I think Abdur Razzak Raj is the permanent solution we're looking for. With his octopus like prowess and range in slip, we'll never need a cordon.
