এমন সস্তা রান আগে কখনও কেউ ক্রিকেট মাঠে পেয়েছিল কিনা—তা নিয়ে সন্দেহ আছে। ইংলিশ বোলিং নিয়ে বাংলাদেশ ‘এ’ দলের এই ছেলেখেলা দেখে মনে হচ্ছিল—বাংলাদেশ অনূর্ধ্ব-১৯ দলের সামনে পড়েছে কুয়েত দল! প্রেসবক্সে বসা স্কোরার মাঠের ছক্কা ও বাউন্ডারির হিসাব ঠিক রাখতে অস্থির হয়ে ওঠেন। প্রতি বলেই যে ছক্কা আর চার আসছে। কুকের ৫ এবং কারবেরির ৪—মোট মিলিয়ে এ দুই বোলারের করা ৯ ওভার থেকে বাংলাদেশ ‘এ’ দল তুলে নেয় ১৮৯ রান! সন্দেহ নেই, প্রথম শ্রেণীর ম্যাচের মর্যাদাটা ঠিক থাকলে কাল নতুন একটা বিশ্বরেকর্ড গড়ে ফেলত বাংলাদেশ। প্রথম শ্রেণীর ক্রিকেটে সবচেয়ে কম ৩৪ বলে সেঞ্চুরির বিশ্বরেকর্ডটা অস্ট্রেলিয়ার ডেভিড হুকসের। কাল চট্টগ্রামে শুভগত হোম মাত্র ৩০ বলেই করে ফেললেন অপরাজিত ৯১ (৮ ছক্কা ও ১০ বাউন্ডারি)। লাঞ্চের পর ‘এ’ দল ইনিংস ঘোষণা না করলে শুভগত সম্ভবত কাল ডেভিড হুকসকে ছাড়িয়ে যেতে পারতেন!

আর মাত্র ১৪ বলে হাফ সেঞ্চুরি এবং ১৭ বলে অপরাজিত ৬৬ রান (৬ ছক্কা ও ৭ বাউন্ডারি) করা ডলার মাহমুদ বিকালে টিম বাসে ওঠার আগে বললেন—‘আমার ক্রিকেট জীবনে আগে কখনও এমন সস্তা বোলিং পাইনি। চরম বাজে বোলিং করছিল ওরা। একসময় তো পিটারসেন হাসতে হাসতে বললেন—ছক্কা মারলে সেটা যেন বেশি দূরে মেরো না। বল আনতে তাহলে দেরি হবে। ছক্কা মারলেও বলটা দড়ির কাছাকাছিই রেখো! খানিকটা সময় তাতে বাঁচবে!’

KP requested Shuvo and the other batsman not hit balls too hard when they are hitting six, so that they fell right outside the boundary rope and English fielders can collect it easily.

Why did Ash declare before Shuvogoto's 100? Most importantly why was England giving out runs (according to the article)? What was the motive? Crowd attraction for the home team?

I have a question, why did we ask english team to let Robin play? its not like our selectors were thinking lets see if robin can get some wickets, maybe we can put him in the team?

The theory is that BD will declare and the Poms can get another chance for batting practice...

or maybe ash was a bit upset watching others in his team score runs when he missed out...but yeah the whole sportsmanship thing is what's going around, maybe he was just be sporting although if he wanted to be sporting he should have declared earlier with a sporting declaration i.e. one that england could actually attemtp to chase down.

Razab bhai, England also took advantage of the opportunity by using Steve Davies as the keeper, so that Prior would not have to strain himself before the 1st Test.

Anyway, sad to see we gained nothing from this match but a disturbance in the Test team.
