What about Akram Khan. Don't forget his innings against Holland in ICC cup.

If u r talking abt before test status, then its Akram/Bulbul. W/o them we wudn't be here.

After test status, it will be Ash in about 10 years. Habibul will be the best captain ever but not best cricketer.

well yeah BD tigers bhai,
u r right. habibul might be the best captain. but ofcourse he is lucky that he is having a very strong side. the other captains never had the opportunity to play with this kind of a strong side. but for best player after test status it can be ashraful, aftab or even rafique or mashrafee. but for sure rafique is already a legend. no doubt about that. he is given a lot. he might not have been a match winner or he might not have been a man of the match but his contributions in both boling and batting is a lot.

If we assume Bashar & Rafique end up their career at same time i would say Rafique will be slightly ahead than bashar as best Bangladeshi cricketer ever. There is no doubt these 2 crickter gave express service in bangladeshi cricket than anyother. Rafique is the man giving invaluable contribution from ICC and still we cant think of replacing him. In personal life this man had nothing but cricket. We we will never forget Akram, Nannu, Bulbul for whom we are here. They played great cricket when have less opportunity and huge pressure.

A salute to the best.

It is just sad that a player of rafiques caliber is still not financially stable. I mean think abt the money he cud have earned if only he was born few hundred miles West in India. However he will always be one of the greatest that bangladesh has produced and if u ask Rafiq i don think he will mind not being financially blessed. He is a true Bangladeshi, a true patriot. Unlike indian players he will always prioritise playing for his country than any sponsorship money.

Cricket community in bangladesh will always owe a lot to this guy ( he is evergreen in all aspect.)

Dont forget Nannu and Athar too.

Oh and in bowling Saiful and Anis ( in his prime ).

Khaled Mahmud and Khaled Mashud comes to mind as well,

But Rafique is the most consistent "Fighter" for BD, he always gives his best, that is something.

your comments make me cry. it is so true. he is just a great guy. i still remember even a year ago he had to leave early in the series because of his house getting flooded. he is a true cricketer who plays cricket because it is his passion and not thinking about how much he is getting.

There is no doubt abt Rafique's contribution to BD cricket. He always be in our heart just like akram/bulbul/athar no matter what.

But I regard Ash will be best ever in BD cricket in 10 years and that will be acknowledged by the whole cricket world Insha Allah.

Under HB's leadership, we've built the most miserable of test records. We have displayed some of the most yellow, unagressive, lethergic cricket. Even his batting average suffered since he took up captaincy. If it wasn't for this high confidence, strong-minded McInnes kids, Bashar's Test status gig would've been up by now. During this time of learning, a senior batsman like him should have showed us how to bat responsibly in Tests and should have given us at least a few draws. If anything, it is our inablility to occupy the crease, that has caused us much trouble. Bashar's ability to provide support to build partnership remains sporadic at best to this day. His ODI preformance is dismal. His bowler rotatioin and field setting is very questionable. And let's not forget some of the most suicidal decisions to bat after winning the toss....

Our "Best Bangladeshi Cricketer Ever" has not emerged yet. When he does, you will see sparks with the bat, domination with the will, staying power with grit and aggression with intent to anihilate. It will be one of the new kids, whose spot is presently blocked by Bashar.
