Not an achievement but Shakib Al Hassan is voted number one all time IPL XL all rounders:

http://www.espncricinfo.com/iplxi/co...y/1092517.html

"- Only allrounder to score 200+ runs and bag 10+ wickets in 2014
- His strike rate of 149.34 in 2014 was the fourth-highest among all batsmen with 200+ runs

While he might not have played as many games as most others on this list, Shakib has been among the more dependable performers for his side whenever called upon. A middle-order batsman who offers an effective spin option in the middle overs, he was among the most important members in both of Kolkata Knight Riders' IPL-winning sides in 2012 and 2014. "

He gets my vote

I think he needs match practice ASAP. Since he was mostly in the bench in his latest IPL stint. Shakib needs to be in prime form in this format./

He bowls it with 2 fingers. Hope he finds a way to disguise this delivery. It can be lethal if not picked by the batsman

This is what a good captain does, backs his players in the media to give them confidence in themselves regardless of his results.

and these guys are quite a close nit group, which is why Bangladesh play as one full unit unlike West Indies or Pakistan

Mashrafee may not worry about Sakib, but as a fan, I am kind of disappointed with him now a days.

Doesn't look like we are getting the quality performance that you are supposed to get from number one all-rounder.

Is he really losing his mojo or is it just me who is now relying more on other players to win us a game?

Now a days I feel like whether Sakib plays or not, doesn't matter any more from game result point of view.

Yes some fan will bring up some stats and prove me how wrong I am, but this is the true feeling I am having now a days with Sakib's performance. His batting is going no where and his bowling looks like too average.

I still believe he is extremely talented and when motivated he can still produce miracles. But then what it is? Is he not motivated enough? or something else?

Think he is going through a mental patch. We really need him to start performing with both bat and ball.

Unusual for this thread to be on page 3 after a match like yesterday's.

That was an innings for the ages from Shakib given the circumstances he came to bat in, the stakes and his recent form. From fishing and edging and being on 3 (12) he stormed to a century with a six. A movie couldn't have been better scripted

One of the earlier backers of Shakib responding to his knock:

Shakib seeks help for Rohingya refugees

Quote:
“I want everyone to help out and I know that a lot of foreign countries have offered their help already and Bangladesh are trying their level best to take care of the situation but they need a lot of help still…there are a lot of children and women here and I sincerely hope you will reach out a helping hand.

“To help out, please go to the Unicef site and click on the donate button and help the people in need,” the cricketer concluded.

According to Unicef, 436,000 Rohingyas have fled from Myanmar Rakhine state since the outbreak of violence.

Shakib to spearhead T-10 revolution
Quote:
Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan is set to spearhead a revolutionary form of cricket when he features in a T-10 league at the Arab Emirates in December.

The top-ranked all-rounder will feature in the newest format alongside big-hitting Shahid Afridi of Pakistan, Virender Sehwag of India, Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara and England’s Eoin Morgan.

AFP report says that the ten-over-a-side matches will be spread over 90 minutes (45 minute each side) in Sharjah.

The four participating teams are to be selcted later this month through a draft.

League president Salman Iqbal hoped that the idea of T-10 will catch on among the cricket lovers.

“Everyone has played T-10 cricket on the streets and this will give more fire to cricket and will be a big step forward and people will definitely enjoy it," Iqbal said.

Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi was naturally thrilled by the prospect of a ten-over match.

"When I was told of the idea I was thrilled and requested that I want to play," said Afridi, known for his rapid run scoring.

England's one-day and Twenty20 captain Morgan suggested that T-10 cricket will have an impact.

"The whole concept is exciting," said Morgan. "We all remember when the first time Twenty20 cricket was played and since then it (twenty20) has impacted the other formats.

"If this new idea takes off then I am sure it will also impact the other forms of the game."

Shakib honoured with MCC World Cricket Committee membership

The committee has quite a few cricketing luminaries; though Suzie Bates seems to be the only other cricketer still playing at the international level.

What can 12 balls by a bowler do? Batsman can have 60 balls facing.

This should help T20 super over preparation.

How come Kohli didn't get the invite?

We need to pin this thread for few of our close friends.
