Probablity of our batsman to be successful vs. Ken
1. Ashraful: A BIG QUESTION MARK
I believe since the last SL tour to BD was a better series for Ashraful, both in ODIs and tests, so Ashraful has a big chance of getting ducks and very low scores against Kenya. Besides, as far as I can remember, Ashraful is not known for his handling of pressure against ICC Associates. The only time that we did win because of Ashraful's batting that we should have won was a One Day match against Ireland (may be) where we were chasing and the target was only 120 odd runs.
2. Alok Kapali: IS HE THE ONE MATCH WONDER?
I remember Tareq Aziz, the pace bowler, who got us our first win against Zimbabwe. He bowled the last over of the match, we won against Zimbabwe because of that last over, and from there on, we have never heard of him since. I fear that Alok Kapali is on his way to becoming something similar to Tareq Aziz. He had his chances, and because of him along with Aftab Ahmed, we could win the match against Sri Lanka. And then Kapali did nothing in the test series, and eventually got dropped in the 2nd test. And now he's back in the squad again in the coming series against Kenya, but will he last long enough, or score important runs at the depth to help us win? I am afraid of his failure.
3. Javed Omar: SNAIL'S PACE?
I believe the biggest question mark on Javed Omar is that if he's really past his slow-run-scoring ability. If I remember it correctly, he played one match against Kenya back in '99, and then he was dropped immediately because just because of that very slow innings by Javed Omar, we lost that single match. Now the Javed Omar that we all know - can sometimes remind us of that poor batsman that we all had, now the Javed Omar that we know - is a far more experienced and matured player now, who wants to prove that he's not the SLOWEST BATSMAN THAT HE USED TO BE BACK THEN. Now whether he can prove himself or go out cheaply in trying to do so consistently, depends entirely upto him. Because, he has not been himself lately, and seems to be losing his motivation, his hunger for runs.
4. Aftab Ahmed: THE DARK HORSE
I guess the biggest dark horse in the Bangladesh side is Aftab Ahmed. Like Ashraful, he can turn out to be a player for only big matches, big opponents like Australia, England, Sri Lanka. Or, he could be a consistent bloke that we can rely upon throughout the Kenya series. My worry is that we cant't yet determine which category he falls into. He did perform against lowly Zimbabwe, but that was in the last match and there too, we had a very low target, considering our usual targets and standard of opponents.
I guess if Aftab turns out to be like another Ashraful - like a no-hoper against ICC Associates, against the teams that we should win, then we'll lose the series against Kenya, or maybe draw the series. However, if Aftab is really a star for the future, even a bigger star than or hopes to be something similar to Ashraful right now, then Aftab has to fire in this series, to win the series for us.
5. The rest of the batting line up:
The rest of the batting line are just there to help the above 4 batsman, including Habibul Bashar, our captain. They may show some sort of responsibility when it is needed, but they won't be able to show any sparks.

Of course we have Faith on our team ....
For the Bowlers, we have the faith that they are capable of tieing up any team to 250 in a ODI.
For the Batsmen, we have faith they can find a way to get themselves out in any type of pitch against any bowling attack.

Ash needs to play a composed innings as he wont be bale to hit their bowlers out the ground they are not fast hence he cant use thier pace he will have to compile his runs sensibley . There are runs for the taking you juts to grap it. I hope Rafique plays up the order cos he will be effective against relatively weak bowling

PLay out the first few overs, since there won't be any practice matches and since we have not played Kenya in a long time, we really don't know the strength of their attack.
There are several ways we can approach these games and we need to be flexible depending on the pitch and quality of the opponents:
If Javed is opening, he will need to settle down and stick around for atleast 20-25 overs and allow his partner (Nafis/Aftab) to settle in the first 5 and attack and take advantage of the fielding restriction in the first 15 overs. Kenya's pace attack has never been their strength, we need to take advantage of that. My worry will be the spinners. We always dig ourselves in trouble against spin, any quality. The way we succumbed to Grant Flower (Zimbabwe) was just hedious and he wasn't even a good first class spinner. Guess we need to control our impatience. Has BCB given any serious thought to hiring a full time shrink ?
Anytime a wicket falls, we need to consolidate. It's not rocket science. The one's and two's will frustrate the bowlers and force them to make mistakes. Punish the bad balls to excelerate (sp) the run rate. If we can get to 150/2-3 by the 35th over and 200/3-5 by the 40th over, anything less then 60-100 runs in the last 10 overs would be criminal. I don't care how they did against Sri Lanka, or England, or Australia. We are playing Kenya and with all due respect, they don't have enough firepower to restrict us within 200 runs.
If our batsmen can exercise controlled aggression against the Kenyans, we may be able take the score past 250 quite easily - EVERY SINGLE TIME. We have had the luxury of playing the best of the best and we have defeated India, Sri Lanka and Australia within the last 15 month, if that wasn't enough to boost our teams confidence, I don't know what is.

I believe that is the difference between this current team that will face Kenya by the end of this week, and the past teams that lost to Kenya 5 times in last 6 ODIs, not considering that 1 match in World Cup 2003, when we were passing a terrible time coupled with some poor team management and coaching.
