liked Bashar's comment:
"We have done well in recent past but then we never played a big team in year 2006. As we play against India, we realize they have a number of superstars. We have none. But we want to play as a unit with significant contributions coming from each and everyone rather than a couple of individuals."

Na bhai, your bhabi isn't coming. She'll be busy unpacking the gifts her dad got from backhome.
I hope you get well soon man. You still got my number for any last minute decisions to show up.

Tendulkar have big problems with good lenght short balls as he likes to chip in sometimes for a catch .
Our feilding is more important here .

Updae from CricInfo. Do you think it's an easy pick? I think they'll go with Irfan Pathan, simply because of his experience.
Quote:
Picking India's first ten might be pretty straight-forward - seven batsman one spinner, three fast bowlers - but the final slot, a likely toss-up between Irfan Pathan and Robin Uthappa, might have caused some furrowed brows. A shock option at the top of the order or a tried and tested (and currently tepid) allrounder lower down?
|
Also, latest photo on CricInfo from practice session.

If they take Irfan Pathan it means we are on driving seat & they are calling for a big trouble .
This bowler is totally out of form & would love to have a high average today as well .

Like someone else said on some other thread ... it does feel like Eid day. Inshallah it will end in a happy note.

I hope they dont go with Pathan. I saw him bowl earlier and he is deadly with the new ball, swings it both ways. Doesnt matter if the man is out of form. He has the ability to wreak havoc in the BD batting order. He is the only bowler I am worried about in the Indian line up. The rest our batsman can take care of with relative ease. Take uththapa we have the bowling to get their batsmen out.

So go Bangladesh and make me proud :-)

Thanks for your support brother... I too always support Pakistan except when they play against Bangladesh .

gatekeeper - et tu brutus? At least my wife forced me to get the willow package. she's like "I'm not putting up with sopcast buffering"
See you all in the chat room. I confess though, my enthusiasm for this game has taken a serious beating following the Rana tragedy. Still can't shake it off

The Gap is Narrowing - the Ratings Game
Bangladesh goes into its most important one day match yet with the gap between itself and its giant neighbour rapidly closing.
If Bangladesh and India were an individual player then today each would have the following rating / ranking
Batting Bowling
India 633 [ 26 ] 600 [ 23 ]
Bangladesh 544 [ 48 ] 573 [ 30 ]
This shows that Bangladesh's strength is in its bowling, something which we kind of knew already.
Below I have done a simple analysis of each teams batting and bowling ratings.
I specifically chose Ratings as opposed to Rankings or Averages for the following reasons.
Rankings only display the current hierarchy. It does not say how much better or worse.
Averages show the historical achievement of the player. But takes no account of the opposing side.
Ratings show the current hierarchy. But it takes into account, maybe not to everyone's satisfaction, the opposing sides strength when the games took place.
India's strength is, undoubtedly, its formidable batting. These are the current ratings:
Dhoni 779
Dravid 704
Yuvraj 680
Tendulkar 666
Sehwag 607
Ganguly 519
Pathan 478
Total = 4433 Average = 633.29 [ Equivalent Ranking No. 26 ]
Relatively speaking , they are not miles ahead of Bangladesh in the bowling department.
Harbhajan 656
Agarkar 639
Pathan 603
Zaheer 588
Patel 516
Total = 3002 Average = 600.40 [ Equivalent Ranking No. 23 ]
Our batting has improved dramatically. Nafees Aftab and Saqib have overtaken Bashar and Ashraful.
Nafees 679
Aftab 588
Saqib 514
Bashar 472
Ashraful 468
Total = 2721 Average = 544.20 [ Equivalent Ranking No. 48 ]
With three bowlers above the psychologically important 600 mark, Bangladesh bowling have arrived.
Razzaq 666
Murtaza 661
Rafique 626
Saqib 480
Rasel 431
Total = 2864 Average = 572.80 [ Equivalent Ranking No. 30 ]
Only hours to go, clearly, India are favourites but not by a big margin !!
