বাংলাদেশ ফুটবল ফেডারেশন বিকেলে এক সংবাদ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে এ কথা জানায়।

কিছুক্ষণের মধ্যেই এ বিষয়ে সাংবাদিক সম্মেলন করবে বাফুফে।

BCB needs a well qualified coach and BFF is happy with medicore coach.Thats the difference.It takes time to get a skilled coach..

Jovanovski new football coach

Macedonian Gjorgji Jovanovski has been named the new football coach of the Bangladesh national football team, formally closing the door on the incumbent Croatian Robert Rubcic, in a press conference at the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) yesterday.

The 55-year-old coach is scheduled to arrive here on June 20 to take charge of the national side ahead of their FIFA World Cup pre-qualifier against Pakistan on June 29 in Dhaka, said Badal Roy, chairman of team management committee, at a press briefing at the BFF House yesterday.

"We are taking World Cup qualifiers seriously in a bid to advance to the next round. We did not want to demoralise our players before those games, which is why we have chosen Jovanovski," said Roy, who is also a vice-president of the BFF.

Jovanovski will be awarded a one-year contract worth 66,000 dollars apart from food, transport and accommodation facilities, he added.

"He will be given three months' wages in advance and the rest will be given in line with the contract which will be penned after his arrival," said Roy.

Jovanovski, an UEFA pro-licensed coach, started his coaching career with Macedonian club Vardar in 1996 where he had also began his playing career 26 years earlier. His coaching career, confined so far within native Macedonia and Turkey, saw him deliver three Macedonian league titles and one cup title apart from guiding clubs to group stages of the UEFA Champions League.

Jovanovski's latest employment was at Bulgarian side ZSC Sofia where he was terminated after two months following his side's 2-0 defeat to Rapid Vienna in Europa League in 2010.

Jovanovski's playing carrier began in 1970 as a member of Vardar's youth team before joining the famous Yugoslav club Red Star seven years later. After a brief return to Macedonia, he went to Turkey where he played for Samsunspor before calling time on his playing career with Ankargucu in 1988-89.

He was also picked for the national youth team of former Yugoslavia in 1973.

Jovanovski is going to be Bangladesh's 15th foreign coach and fourth in three years under the Kazi Salahuddin-led committee after unpleasant departures of Brazilian Edson Silva Dido, Serbian Zoran Djordjevic and the latest, Rubcic.

Rubcic left here on June 2 without informing the authorities and has so far declined to attend to calls and e-mails from the football's governing body. Rubcic, who signed a one-year deal worth 50,000 dollars in September last year, still had three months of his contract left.

It was learnt .that the Croat was not paid his wages for the last four months along with his food allowance and was also dissatisfied with lack of activities as coach. Badal Roy though claimed they were ready to clear all his dues and made every possible move to contact the coach, but in vain.

"We tried our best to reach and make a communication with Robert Rubcic, but he never responded. We urged him to receive all the due money we owe to him, but in a shocking note I regret to say that all of our efforts went in vain. Furthermore, he also avoided the agent. So we can say Robert Rubcic chapter with BFF has come to an end," announced Roy at the press conference.

The Bangladesh Football Federation on Tuesday finally dismissed national coach Robert Rubcic and replaced him with Macedonian Gjorgji Jovanovski for a year.

Rubcic, frustrated at not being paid for four months, left Bangladesh on June 2 and had not been in contact with the federation people since then.

The federation initially played down the event saying that he had left for an urgent family business and he would return soon.

It later came be known that the federation was hiding the truth. Rubcic had not responded to any federation call and had not replied any e-mail.

Finding no other option, the federation turned to his agent, who also failed to resolve the issue. The agent is said to have been able to only make a contact with the coach’s wife and son.

‘We did not have any complaint against him as he was a perfect gentleman. But we are not certain why so behaved,’ said Badal Roy, head of the national team management committee, at a press conference.

‘We had his payment ready and we told him in an e-mail to let us know of the mode of payment. But we did not get any reply,’ he said.

‘We waited for days for his reply, but there was no sign of him coming back soon. So we had to act,’ said Badal, who has by now seen unusual ending with three foreign coaches during the three-year tenure on the federation’s executive committee.

Brazilian Edson Dido was the first foreign coach to be recruited by the present committee, headed by former footballer Kazi Salahuddin.

Dido could not complete his term as the federation sacked him for his stubbornness against interference of officials in team selection.

Serbian coach Zoran Djordjevic had replaced him and guided Bangladesh to the SA Games gold before his demand for unusual salary and term for a contract renewal resulting in his parting with the federation.

Rubcic joined in September, about six months after Zoran had left. His contract was scheduled to expire on August 31.

‘It is true that we had to change so many coaches in such a short period but if you look at facts, you must admit that we had very little choice,’ Badal said.

‘None of the coaches left over performance issue. They left because they could not adjust with us,’ he said.

The fourth foreign coach Jovanovski, whose last job was with the CSKA Sofia, Bulgaria in 2010–11 season, is expected to take over on June 19.

His first task will be to oversee the Bangladesh national side in the two-leg World Cup 2014 pre-qualifiers against Pakistan.

Bangladesh face Pakistan in the first leg of their Asian zone first-round qualifier on June 29 in Dhaka with the return leg in Lahore on July 3.

Jovanovski, a former Yugoslavia international, coached the Macedonia national team in 2001-2002.

His annual salary will be $66,000. Badal said that they would work out his mode of payment once he arrived in Dhaka.
