Default Tri-Series: (Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe) - Squad Selection, Strategies and more...

Bangladesh will host a tri-nation ODI series involving Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, beginning on January 15. It will be the first tri-nation series hosted by Bangladesh since January 2010.

A Zimbabwe XI will take on BCB XI in a one-day warm-up match on January 13 at the BKSP 4 Ground. Bangladesh will then take on Zimbabwe in the tri-series opener in Dhaka where all seven day-night matches, including the final on January 27, will be held. Each side will face each other twice during the league stage before the final.

This time: I don't see any reason why Bangladesh can't take the cup home. We are aware that both Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe are vastly improved sides. any single loss here means a a huge dip in the rankings.

Best squad we could pick. But Hider should be there as well.

I don't want to see Sarker, Imrul and Shabbir in the side anymore. Shabbir is good for T20s, so I have him there only.

I want to see Nurul, Liton Das, Abu Hider, Mehedi...be part of the ODI squad now. Mashrafe won't be there for too long now, so it's important to groom in Hider. Top keeping skills are vital in limited overs, so that's why I chose Nurul, and I also think that Nurul is underrated with the bat. He batted well when I saw him in New Zealand. I also chose Mehedi since he's basically going to be the next Shakib for us. I'm only thinking for the long term.

my ODI XI:

1. Tamim Iqbal
2. Imrul Kayes
3. Mosaddek Hossain
4. Mahmudullah Riyad
5. Shakib al Hasan
6. Mushfiqur Rahim
7. Sabbir Rahman
8. Mehedi Hasan Miraj
9. Mashrafee Mortaza
10. Mustafizur Rahman
11. Rubel Hossain

Backups: Anamul Haque Bijoy, Sunzamul Islam, Mominul Haque, Abu Hider Rony, Subhashis Roy, Mohammad Saifuddin

Last chance for Imrul: He is a veteran and he should be ashamed of his performance. He should step up or time to give chances to Anamul Bijoy to claim his spot. Soumya is a gone case(except T20). Taskin is also a gone case.

Home conditions: must have two frontline spinners. 4 pacers attack worked cause of Heath Streak. Heath Streak no longer affiliated with Bangladesh cricket....sooo.. four pacers is useless now.

I really don't see a need for Mushfiqur in any T20 team.

Mithun is the right choice. This BPL might have been a confidence boost he so desperately needed. He played some mature knocks.

Either him or fast track Jahurul back in.

I have said this somewhere on one of those match threads on BPL...that I like this version of Jahurul. He brings stuff to the table...kinda like a potluck

Very unlikely we will win, SL are starting to gain some form, when they play as a unit they can beat any side in the world. Zimbabwe are the under dogs, if batting clicks with Taylor, Raza,Mire and Mazakasdza we are screwed, they have some big hitters (Williams, Moor and Waller) at the end.

I think we will lose to SL.

Other than Tamim I do not see any other batsman is in form right now. We need players who make runs consistently. Do not be surprised if we cant make it to the final.

Nope, at least I won't be surprised. To be honest I'll be surprised if we actually make it to the final. But yes, in terms of strength ban, zim and SL r almost similar. I m expecting a highly competitive tournament.

Did we ever have any batsman in form for a extended period? It was always one game in this series, one game in in another series, two games here and there. Yet we beat few good teams at home. It is by committee.

We have wasted talent like Mominul. Couldn't sustain Sarkar. The key to become a batting corner stone of a team, you have to have PATIENCE. Be it Williamson, Smith, Kohli, Root to some extent. All can see through the good balls and punish the bad ones. We get out on the good balls for being too aggressive, and try to over due on the bad balls and get out anyways.

^ 30 people are the usual suspects. 15 is where things would get interesting.

Don't think whole lot of changes is needed to the ODI team atm, besides Anam back in place of Soumya. Rony and Shanto should be accommodated in the squad in places of Shafiul and Momin (from SA ODI Squad), and perhaps play the matches against Zimbabwe.

Mosaddek vs Nasir will be interesting. I am still leaning towards Mosaddek.
