Default BCB has one of the highest profit-expenditures ratios amongst Test nations

http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/b.../1/279334.html

According to this article, the BCB is at rough glance, 2nd to just the PCB in terms of profits to expenditures...indicating some level of high efficiency. Any idea on how that is possible in perhaps the two most corrupt and inept boards in the Test countries?

And somehow ZIM and RSA have identical PE ratios.

I wont say this as high efficiancy. I'm no finance expert but I guess its- "Low quality service & resource cost low expences." - thats whats happening in case of BCB.
IMO Although it sounds good atm, but BPL match fixing saga will soon push it to worse.

I believe that this is due to the big market in Bangladesh. Normalize that data with population of home country, then things won't be as rosy...

Efficient because of the ratio of profit to expense. You can argue that the quality is poor and hence expenditures are low. But then profits should be even lower due to having a poor product. Thus the ratio holds.

Not necessarily. It can happen in a monopoly where there is a high demand for the product. One doesn't new to spend a lot on R&D and product quality because there is a demand. One doesn't need to invest in states of the art facilities because there is a demand. The danger with monopolies dealing with products not indispensable is that the customer base eventually weans itself out instead of forking out for whatever shoddy thing is on the market shelf. After a while, we will all wean ourself from Bangladesh cricket. You'll end up paying good money to watch Qari competition with Rifat. I'll be sports betting on 3-dimensional chess, and Shakib will be a billionaire CEO of a hot new social media company.

Very easy. The key is before paying the bills stat. Other paid most of theirs and we didn't. No Power in Mirpur, lol - small example. I am sure same with Chittagong, Khulna, Bogura, Fatullah etc.

So, if BCB had paid and reported that huge amount of bills into their 'Expense' account, then their profit figure would have been less. That case, profit/loss ratio will also be less. So, the figure in that report is actually misleading

Cut-off date for those figures was Dec 31, 2012. BPL was held in 3 grounds with lights in 2013. Having said that, yes, it is surprising BCB would do so well relatively speaking.

If run efficiently, the revenue could and should have been double...BCB can do much better getting premier sponsorship....

I think this shows that 1) BCB is one of the richer boards and 2) it has the potential to become much more profitable, if run properly.
