Tamim's runout was unfortunate, but the end of the day blame goes to him. Just look at where Hafeez picked up the ball from, you don't have to be a genius to know how close to the stump he was going to pick up that ball. Not the mention we already had gotten some boundaries in that over, so a risky run wasn't all that necessary. I didn't see it clearly, but from what I remember Tamim was the one that wanted to get that run.

Crapinfo commentry guy got it seriously wrong. Thats what happens when you are covering a cricket match and watching 'star plus' serials side by side.

Since Shakib played the shot to mid-off region , a coaching manual would recommend Shakib make the call for a run and he did exactly that. Tamim responded , Shakib backtracked and Tamim slipped. So I dont see how we can blame Tamim here.

On a side note , Tamim's love story with Hafeez continues. If he doesnt get him out bowling, he does with a run out. This indeed is still a better love story than twilight.

Why do Asian cricketers and some fans always talk about this "Asian brotherhood" concept? Keeping cup in Asia etc..I supported WI cause I dont believe in that stuff. I don't see how any reasons for Bangladeshi cricketers to celebrate Pakistani (specially) or Indian victory over say WI or Australia.

^ Well not everybody thinks about this stuff the same way. In his mind he might be thinking well I'm more alike to the Srilankan's than West Indies, so I should support a team that's closer to my home. Nothing wrong with hoping to keep the trophy in Asia. Some people support teams based on different players, while other support teams based on region. I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

After losing to Pakistan he said to Kamran Akmal that Pakistan should keep the trophy in Asia.. I would much rather the trophy goes to Aus or WI... I just dont see how it makes any sense but at the end of the day it's his choice. I just want the reasoning behind it.

ঢাকা: তামিম ইকবাল বিদেশের লিগে দুই বছর ধরে অনেকটা নিয়মিতই খেলছেন। ইংল্যান্ডে নটিংহ্যামশায়ারে খেলেছেন টি-টোয়েন্টি ক্রিকেট। ইন্ডিয়ান প্রিমিয়ার লিগ (আইপিএল)’র দল পুনে ওয়ারিয়র্সেও ছিলেন। এ বছর খেলেছেন শ্রীলঙ্কান প্রিমিয়ার লিগ (এসএলপিএল)’র দল ওয়াইয়েম্বা ইউনাইটেডে।

এবার নিউজিল্যান্ডে যাচ্ছেন প্রথম শ্রেণীর ক্রিকেট খেলতে। তিনি খেলবেন ওয়েলিংটন ফায়ারবার্ডসে। জাতীয় দলের সাবেক কোচ জেমি সিডন্স ওয়েলিংটনে কোচের দায়িত্বে আছেন। তামিমকে তিনি পছন্দ করে নিয়েছেন। সবকিছু ডিসেম্বরে নিউজিল্যান্ড যাবেন তামিম,‘ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের বিপক্ষে হোম সিরিজ শেষে ওয়েলিংটন ফায়ারবার্ডসে খেলতে যাবো। জেমি আমাকে নিচ্ছে।’

এই নভেম্বরে ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজ আসবে বাংলাদেশের বিপক্ষে পূর্ণাঙ্গ ক্রিকেট সিরিজ খেলতে। ১০ ডিসেম্বর পর্যন্ত খেলা আছে জাতীয় দলের। এরপরই তামিম যাবেন নিউজিল্যান্ড। সেখানে ১০টি টি-টোয়েন্টির পাশাপাশি দুটি চারদিনের ম্যাচও খেলবেন। ওয়েলিটংন দেশটির প্রথম শ্রেণীর ক্রিকেট ক্লাব। তারা টি-টোয়েন্টিতে খেলে ওয়েলিংটন ফায়ারবার্ডস নামে।

ওয়েলিংটনের দিক থেকে সব কিছু চূড়ান্ত হয়ে গেছে। তামিমকে চেয়ে নিউজিল্যান্ড ক্রিকেট বোর্ড থেকে বিসিবি ক্রিকেট পরিচালনা বিভাগকে চিঠি দিয়েছে। বিসিবির সংশ্লিষ্ট বিভাগ আলাপ আলোচনা করে তামিমকে এনওসি দিতে রাজি হয়েছে। ক্রিকেট পরিচালানা বিভাগের চেয়ারম্যান এনায়েত হোসেন মোবাইলফোনে বলেছেন,‘এ ধরণের সুযোগ এলে বিসিবি কখনো না করে না। সব হয়ে যাবে।’ সিরাজ এখন বিদেশে আছেন।

তামিমের আগে বাংলাদেশ থেকে আল শাহরিয়ার রোকন খেলেছেন নিউজিল্যান্ডে ক্লাব ক্রিকেট। নর্দান আইল্যান্ডের প্রিমিয়ার বিভাগের দল হ্যাভেলক নর্থ ক্রিকেট ক্লাবের হয়ে খেলেছেন তিনি। তামিম খেলছেন দেশটির জাতীয় পর্যায়ের লিগে।

বাংলাদেশ থেকে তৃতীয় ক্রিকেটার হিসেবে বিদেশে প্রথম শ্রেণীর ক্রিকেট লিগে খেলবেন তামিম। তার আগে, বাঁহাতি স্পিনার এনামুল হক জুনিয়র মহারাষ্ট্রের হয়ে ভারতের রঞ্জি ট্রফিতে খেলেছেন। সাকিব খেলেছেন উস্টারশায়ারের হয়ে ইংলিশ কাউন্টিতে। তামিম খেলবেন নিউজিল্যান্ডে।
তামিম এই সুযোগটাকে দেশের ক্রিকেটের জন্য ইতিবাচক হিসেবে দেখছেন,‘প্রত্যেক দেশের অনেক অনেক ক্রিকেটার বিদেশের লিগে খেলে। আমাদের দেশ থেকে এখনও বেশি খেলার সুযোগ হয়নি। আমরা যত ভালো খেলবো তত বেশি অন্যদের সুযোগ হবে। এখানে যেমন বিদেশি ক্রিকেটার খেলতে এলে আমরা তার কাছ থেকে অনেক বেশি ভালো পারফরমেন্স আশা করি। তেমনি আমি বিদেশি হিসেবে খেলতে গেলে তারাও আমার কাছ থেকে ভালো কিছু চাইবে। সামনে জাতীয় লিগ এবং ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের বিপক্ষে খেলা আছে। ওখানে যাওয়ার আগে আমার ভালো প্রস্তুতি থাকবে। লক্ষ্য থাকবে প্রথম শ্রেণীর ম্যাচ দুটোর দিকে। কারণ টি-টোয়েন্টি সবাই খেলতে পারে। ২০ ওভারের ক্রিকেটে অত বেশি পারফরমেন্স করার সুযোগও থাকে না। কিন্তু চারদিনের খেলায় নিজেকে প্রমাণ করার অনেক সুযোগ থাকে।’
জাতীয় দলের ওপেনার বাংলানিউজকে জানান, শনিবার বিসিবির কাছ থেকে ছাড়পত্র পাওয়ার বিষয়ে নিশ্চিত হয়েছেন। বলছিলেন,‘বিসিবি আমাকে গতকাল জানিয়েছে খেলতে যেতে পারবো। এখন আমি কাগজপত্র সই করে পাঠিয়ে দেব।’

Thank you JS. Nice to see our ex coaches still looking out for our player. Ian got Rasel a gig, now JS. Since JS is the coach I expect Tamim to play lots of games. This should be a really good learning experience for him, plus we all know how much he loves JS. Hopefully JS can knock some sense back into his head again.
