Nice to see we're finally getting some attention on CI. A nice long featured discussion as well with Harsha, Siddons and Shamim!

What is a bit strange but also touching is that Siddons still refers to the Bangladesh Team as 'we'.

siddons was strongly involved, not surprised to hear 'we' being used. what is good is that he holds these feelings even though he has no current links. he was still coaching with multiple melanomas so i think the commitment was there

he is very straight forward, like law, hope law is given more time -liked the idea of NCL recruiting foreign players

^^ Shamim is also too verbose and seems to enjoy his own voice too much. He spoke over Siddons a few times. Siddons was generally more reticent but really seemed to care about Bangladesh cricket. He's still adamant that he could have built on the skills that he developed during his time in BD

Yep, regardless of his shortcomings, he backed the players (perhaps way too much) and strongly bonded with them - which reflects on the players' opinions on him.

Harsha Bhogle always been awesome neutral commentator but before praising him better prepared for his harsh comments if Bangladesh didn't do well.

I think Bangladesh team I saw in Asia cup is different(in a positive way) to the previous Bangladeshi teams, more to do with attitude, BPL effect maybe?

Agree with this, as would everyone else.

Just a thought: Shamim's name bring with itself a sense of negativity all the time, which is not really fair. But he did mention a couple of strong points in this episode of Time Out, and mostly said the right things. I think we can give him credit for that, no ?

Senman, I feel Harsha is generally fair and wants BD to do well. I think he also feels disappointed, like we do, when BD is inconsistent and doesn't do justice to their talent.

Yes, the attitude was very different and importantly several players clicked at the same time. That happens very rarely, with our occasional wins being dependent on sterling performances by 1-2 players (read: Shakib or Tamim in most cases)

But as this talk show addresses, we play far to little cricket for this form to be sustained. Other teams suffer from playing too much cricket and their players burn out while our players lose fitness and form because of lack of match practice!

I've always found the kufa thing to be quite funny but personally don't believe in anything like that. I do find his commentary to border on the Shastri-esque and at times he simply mimics the vocal styles and expressions of his fellow commentators. I don't think he can ride on the fact that he speaks English well because there are so many journalists/media personalities in the country that can do that.

That being said, he has been associated with Bangladesh cricket for the last two decades and has commented in many of our historic victories, from the ICC Trophy Final to the present day. He's had a ring side seat to all the action over that time and I am sure he would be an interesting person to talk to about Bangladesh Cricket - if he is candid and open. In most occasions it doesn't seem he really is but in this talk show he did speak out a little more and, as you said, did make some good points. I hope to see that more often.

I feel this has always been the issue under the previous leadership. Under the current leadership we have seen certain players left out (Rocky, Junaid) who were previously 'untouchable', we have recently seen Naeem disappear, Shuvo disappear, Imrul disappear, SN disappear and others have a chance.

The BPL really helped expose new, fresh talent in a way that the domestic system cannot. It also helped expose a few people the other way as well, who couldn't really cut it.

Tamim, Shakib and Mushfiqur are the players that must form the bedrock of the side. But it is more about developing players than simply exposing them to higher matches (as important as that is).

The great Muhammed Ali said: “The fight is won or lost far away from the witnesses – behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights.”

We should all remember those words and apply them to BD cricket if we want Bangladesh to win consistently.

Good to see Siddons is still a follower of BD cricket. If possible we should bring him in as a specialist batting coach for the national team and perhaps offer him something at the Academy.
