Pakistan played on Eid day, I dont understand why our players need more than 7 days break for Eid? The players are coming off a 7 months break anyway

It is simply asking too much for our good and reliable fast-medium bowlers to roll Bangladesh twice in their conditions; the spinners have to play their part, ideally a leading part.

Interesting that Mark Richardson seems to think their pace bowlers won't take 20 wickets.

According to PA:
Bangladesh is a bit confused about which type wicket they should offer to NZ. Some part of management want turning wicket. But some says turning wicket may backfire us,so they want medium turn sporty wicket. Just now there is grass on the wicket, it will turn and bounce. If management want a medium spinning sporty wicket then they will cut the grass.

dont think the management will provide a spinning track, most likely it'll be same as ctg wicket with may be some turn in the fifth day, though i doubt it

This is really bad,we don't have the guts to play NZ spinners. In that case they have a plan to play with 8 batsman. I like the idea, spinning track, drop one pacer and take a batting all rounder.

i really hope we won't be a sissy and prepare a dead track to ensure another dull draw. Our FTP is fairly empty and unless we start causing upsets and beating top sides, it won't change. I want to see a wicket where 20 wickets will be possible to be taken by spinners and life will be hard for pacers. We need a wicket that will play to our bowling strength and not to cover up our batting weaknesses.

Surely they can't be serious? Are they that afraid of Sodhi
Anything with a little bit of grass and pacers will eat us alive.

Based on PA, after 6 years, our selector Haba and company are still unable to figure out the nature of the pitch. This is really sad.

lol... seems like a never ending confusion for our Septic Tank! what kind of pitch to prepare? how many spinners to take? what to do after winning toss? etc.

Alas!! After all these years of Test cricket if our selectors and management are scared of Sodhi type spinner, then we should stop playing test cricket altogether. BCB must realize this is the best chance we have got to win a Test against a Top 8 Team. And without this win we will firmly place ourselves behind ZIM.

I think we are losing unbeliable opportunity by preparing dead track! We need sharp turning spin track and play 3 full time spinners. There is no use for any pacer really. One spin track and 3 spinners excluding Shakib, we can bundle out NZ under 250 each inning, get 20 wickets and win the Test. This reduces the pressure on the batsmen too, also helps batsmen who lack temperament. This type of pitch will be ideal to beat at least WI, ZIM, NZ and even ENG, SA and maybe AUS. At least with later 3 we can draw.

We really need to get rid of Haba type selectors who spreads his defensive mindeded attitudes on and off the field. Maybe that's why we have such a defensive field placement and defensive attitude. Mushy must stay away from Haba...

According to Masranga TV: Bangladesh may play with same 11.
Playing same 11 indicates wicket will be sporty to me and there will not be a huge turn.

Will Mirpur be sporting?

Sports Reporter

It is all but confirmed that there will be no respite from the heat when the spirited Tigers lock horns with the Kiwis in the second and final Test, starting from tomorrow, at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur. But the main interest leading up to the Mirpur Test has surrounded the nature of the wicket. Would it be the same placid surface of the drawn first Test in Chittagong?

Considering the visitors’ documented weakness against the slower bowlers in sub-continent conditions, the home team think-tank would love to see the spinners — their main weapons — get some advantage in order to tame the visitors in the hot and humid conditions. The nature of the wicket in Mirpur will probably not be the same as Chittagong but it was hard to guess whether the spinners will get that advantage, especially as there is always uncertainty over the nature of the black soil. Bangladesh, confident after an impressive show in the port city, expressed the desire for a ‘sporting wicket’ as they want a result from the Mirpur Test.

“We want a result and for that we hope that it will be a sporting wicket unlike the first Test where there was nothing for the bowlers. You know the pace bowlers have a good record in Mirpur and I believe this team is ready to face any challenge because they have got the start in the series. What I can say is the Mirpur pitch will offer some bounce,” said selector and former national skipper Habibul Bashar, who spoke with Sri Lankan curator Gamini Di Silva out in the middle during the Tigers’ practice session yesterday.

The players were not eager to think too much on the pitch and instead wanted to continue their good performance. First-match hero Shohag Gazi, who achieved a unique Test record by hitting a hundred and picking six wickets in an innings along with a hattrick, echoed the sentiment.

“Till now the coach or captain does not know much about the wicket. We haven’t done much work. But no matter what the wicket is, we need to play. Actually this is a new wicket, because there haven’t been any games played here for a long time. I don’t know what will happen,” said Gazi.

There have always been doubts over whether the Bangladesh team get the type of wickets they want at home, so the nature of the Mirpur pitch will remain a mystery until the end of the second Test. Winning a Test match however will depend on Mushfiqur Rahim’s men’s tenacity. Bangladesh have shown a great deal of maturity to draw the first match, regardless of how flat the wicket was till the last day, and they have to show a lot more if they want to win a Test against a top-ranked side.

It's ain't the same anymore, after relaying the whole ground with new grass mirpur drainage is a lot worse now. In one of the current DPL matches last month an hour rain postponed the whole match and had to be played on the reserve day whereas other matches were completed on the given day. Mirpur's drainage was simply outstanding and was one of the best in the world but our morons in the BCB completely ruined it. They tried to fix something which is not broken only for their personal benefit.
