Went to see it at IMAX 3D last night. Lots of action. 8 out of 10, a "B". 3D didn't do much for me.

As I posted on Youtube trailer:

Quote:
Movies can be pacy, addicting, entertaining, witty, intelligent, suspenseful other than "EPIC". This is exactly what I am afraid of. TDKR was dubbed "Epic" and it was a big let down. Hope it won't be the same for this but trailer looks like it was made in a big scale with lots of action and explosion. Sorry not my cup of tea.

Epic (animated) was much better. I'd give a 9.
++++
60%+ fighting, and most of it was computer generated. At times felt like watching video games. The plot was created to make a sequel.

I liked the way they handled the opening sequences. A story that is well known and has been viewed/read by generations of fans, is hard enough to tell again. You have to give credits to the way they reimagined the story. Loved the way Krypton was envisioned. Just when I thought here comes "superboy" part of story, we are moved abruptly to full grown man Clark! Flashbacks were a nice way to handle transition between childhood and Clark Kent the man.

Story was very fast paced, which can be bit overwhelming for some who are seeking that connection to the characters. This was probably done due to the fact that Superman story is so well known, director/writer assumed audience already has connection to the characters (might not be a smart idea after all). I thought little bit of investment in character development would have made audience connect with Clark better.

Action was intense. 3D was subtle, which is what you should expect; i.e. 3D shouldn't be the part that steals the show, the story should. Zimmer's score went with the story well, but I thought it was bit underwhelming. I expected bit more. After watching for over 2 hours, I failed to identify a leitmotif. A movie like this must have a clear leitmotif! May be there was one, but it just got lost completely in the action sequences. Compare this against leitmotifs in Hobbit!

Overall, did I like it; the answer is yes. This is way better attempt than what they did in 2006/07 version. Could have been better, but I will take it. Most moving scene is when he takes off for his first flight from the ice, that's when you realize superman story.

'After Earth' is way down to Earth. 'Man of Steel' met, but did not exceed my expectations. Decent movie.

The new costume is a rip off from Spiderman.

HE IS SO INCREDIBLY HANDSOME! LIKE SO HANDSOME! LIKE OHMYGOSH!
However, I have no interest in watching this movie because, a) the trailer is not appealing, it doesnt make me want to watch it, not as interested in these types of movies b) everyone has said what a rip off it was, didn't live up to its hype and c) I never liked superman in the first place, like batman is the best super hero. I LOVE BATMAN.
In saying that, I'm thrilled that superman finally learned to wear his underwear inside.

I never liked Superman (way too overpowered) nor have I ever enjoyed any of his movies, but I actually enjoyed this one. Loved the soundtrack too.

Just watched Man of Steel...not a big Superman fan here, but Man of Steel was certainly better than the previous installments. Ironman 3 disappointed, fast and furious 6 was good. However nothing comes close to the last few batman movies. Batman begins changed the landscape, now all comic based adaptations have a dark theme which I like.
