Smile Bangladesh 11th happiest country

Quote:
The Happy Planet Index 2012 has ranked Bangladesh 11th among 151 countries, ahead of both India and Pakistan, which ranked 32nd and 16th respectively.

The Happy Planet Index is calculated using life expectancy, well-being and ecological footprint of the countries with data collected from various sources including UNDP and Gallup.

The index was introduced in July 2006 by a British NGO, the New Economics Foundation, which also has a branch in the US.

The HPI 2012 ranked Costa Rica as the happiest country in the world, followed by Vietnam and Colombia.

Bangladesh was higher up on the scale with two factors -- life expectancy and experienced well-being -- termed “mediocre” and ecological footprint -- another factor -- termed “good”.

And if Khaleda along with Tareq and Hasina were taken out, we'd shoot right to the top of the list.

Aus - too worried the chinese and muslims are taking over to be happy
England - huge recession...and that shitty weather means, there is no chance they're gonna be happy
Canada - It's canada for ffs
US - the people have forgotten God, so the Lord has forsaken it A Black Muslim socialist is leading the country...how can anyone be happy with that situation???

Dude, money doesn't buy happiness. Ignorance != bliss either. Orphy, how come you don't hold my hand and practice a 5 minute of loving-kindness meditation? Picture someone you don't like or dislike or even like a bit such as your wife, andrygyounous neutered neutral purbasbha and visualzie sending spheres of blue balls of bliss to her direction. Suppose you really really dislike Nasif because he has enough money to burn this bc server and turn it into a ping pong tabel... well imagine sending vibrations and positive energy of pure love and bliss... imagine he enters a room with buffet of dishes but in the porcelain melamain dishes instead of food there are zilliopns and zillions of softwares from perl or sql, to A# to whatever...and nasif is peaceful and serene.

what happens is when you want good for others, you will feel better and this will spiral into more cultivation of positivity in your life.

love,

zeeshan

Since 'Ecological footprint' was one of the factors, i guess, all the developed countries lost points due to industry development and extraction activities. Don't forget they are the major contributor to 'Global Warming'.

Regarding poor countries, you are right. Since they don't get the facilities, they expect less. Whatever they get, they get very happy

I think being happy and being content are being confused here.

Poor people in Bangladesh always say something like...'baba, teen bela pet bore khaite paarle aar poribar shusto thaakle, manusher aar ki laage?'

That's not happiness, that's being content with your life.

So, we are sliding down even in the happiness ranking ??
Thought we were the most happiest nation on earth few years back.

Not happy about being 11th happy.

^^ Wasn't that the LSE study from quite a few years back? I don't think it is as simple as ignorance = bliss or that low ecological footprint is the only reason we're 11th as sub-saharan african countries, who are lowest on the list, also have very low ecological footprints per capita and low literacy rates/

I also hear that Bangladesh's 2 taka note has been voted as the most beautiful bank note in the world!

^ what makes off topic! this list makes comparison of happiness among countries. I'm happy about Muslim nations like Pakistan & Bangladeh, citizens here are happier than India/USA.

^^ do you even realize the population of Muslim in India is larger than that of Bangladesh and Pakistan ? And, since when Bangladesh is a muslim country ? Bangladesh is a secular country where majority of people are muslim. 'Muslim country' and 'majority of population is muslim' two different thing.

Anyway, don't wanna indulge in another religion related discussion.

So you are unhappy for those people that are from different faith in BD? What kind of a Bangladeshi are you that you are only happy for the muslim population and not for the rest of them? You should be happy for all of Bangladesh not just the Muslim population.

11th is not good enough, we need to challenge top 8 regularly.

When is the worldcup?

I wont deny for being little bit sarcastic in my upper posts, but with the common & ordinary Bangali view, ommiting 1% (in question of "What kind of Bangladeshi") I stand with innocence of muslims & having Islam in us making this achievement of happiness possible over lot other unhappy secularist countries (usa rank #105 ).
