টানা দুই ঘণ্টা অনুশীলন মাঠে কাটালেন মোহাম্মদ আশরাফুলরা। ব্যাটিং, বোলিং, ফিল্ডিং—সবই হলো। ব্যাটিংয়েই মনোযোগটা ছিল বেশি। এই ব্যাটিংই যে চিন্তার বড় অংশজুড়ে!

কথাটা একেবারে ঠিকও বলা হলো না। ব্যাটিংয়ের সঙ্গে উইকেটও তো সমস্যা! এশিয়ান গেমস ক্রিকেটের সেমিফাইনালে বাংলাদেশের জন্য শ্রীলঙ্কা নামটাই সবচেয়ে বড় চিন্তা তো বটেই, গুয়াংডং স্টেডিয়ামের উইকেটও যেন অদৃশ্য প্রতিপক্ষ!
‘উইকেটটা আমরা বুঝতেই পারিনি। স্লো উইকেটে ড্রাইভ খেলতে গিয়ে উইকেট বিলিয়েছি আমরা’—মালয়েশিয়ার বিপক্ষে ৭ উইকেটে ১৫০ রান করার পর এই ছিল বাংলাদেশ অধিনায়ক মোহাম্মদ আশরাফুলের ব্যাখ্যা।

রানটা খুব কমও হয়নি। তবে মিডল-অর্ডার হুড়মুড় করে ভেঙে পড়াতেই মালয়েশিয়ার বিপক্ষে যত রান আশা করা গিয়েছিল, তত হয়নি। আজ ফাইনালে ওঠার লড়াইয়ে নিশ্চয়ই মালয়েশিয়া ম্যাচের মতো ব্যাটিং করে শ্রীলঙ্কার বিপক্ষে পার পাওয়া যাবে না!
‘চিন্তার কিছু নেই। উইকেটটা তো দুই দলের জন্যই সমান। আমরা সেরা ক্রিকেটটা খেললে জিতব আশা করি’—কাল অনুশীলন শেষে আশরাফুলকে আশাবাদীই দেখাল।

‘উইকেট দুই দলের জন্যই সমান’—কথাটাকে প্রমাণ করতেই কিনা শ্রীলঙ্কাও কাল কোয়ার্টার ফাইনালে যাচ্ছেতাই ব্যাটিং করল। নেপালকে ৭৩ রানে অলআউট করে জয় তুলতে গিয়ে হারাল ৮ উইকেট! ‘খুব ভালো দলের’ সার্টিফিকেট পাওয়া শ্রীলঙ্কারও এই হাল কেন? উইকেটই কি সমস্যা?

ম্যাচ রেফারি হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করা বাংলাদেশের প্রথম টেস্ট সেঞ্চুরিয়ান আমিনুল ইসলাম বললেন, ‘উইকেট ঠিকই আছে। ওরা বাজে ব্যাটিং করেছে বলেই এমন মনে হচ্ছে।’ পরশু বাংলাদেশ ম্যাচ শেষে কিউরেটর মোহাম্মদ জসিমউদ্দিনও বলেছিলেন, ‘উইকেটের দোষ দিয়ে লাভ নেই। উইকেট ঠিকই আছে।’

তবে বাংলাদেশ দলের সঙ্গে আসা বিসিবির পরিচালক জালাল ইউনুস উইকেটকে সমস্যাই মনে করছেন, ‘আগের ম্যাচের ভুলগুলো নিয়ে আমরা কথা বলেছি। সেগুলো শুধরাতে অনুশীলন করা হয়েছে। উইকেট সহজ নয়, এখানে বল ব্যাটে আসে দেরিতে। উইকেটের ওপরের অংশটা নরম, নিচু বাউন্স। তবে এসব সমস্যা হয়ে দাঁড়াবে না। আমরা প্রস্তুতই আছি।’

যত প্রস্তুতিই থাক এবং শ্রীলঙ্কা যতই ৭৩ তুলতে ৮ উইকেট হারাক, বাংলাদেশের বড় একটা পরীক্ষাই হচ্ছে আজ। শ্রীলঙ্কা তো আর প্রতিদিন বাজে ব্যাটিং করবে না! বাংলাদেশ কোচ সারোয়ার ইমরানের মুখে তাই সতর্কতা, ‘শ্রীলঙ্কার বিপক্ষে মিডল-অর্ডার ভেঙে পড়লে বিপদ আছে।’

এমনিতে দুই দলে বড় কোনো পার্থক্য বের করা কঠিন। আন্তর্জাতিক ম্যাচের অভিজ্ঞতার দিক থেকেও মোহাম্মদ আশরাফুলরা পিছিয়ে নেই। আশরাফুল খেলেছেন ১৬৩টি এক দিনের আন্তর্জাতিক ম্যাচ, আন্তর্জাতিক টি-টোয়েন্টি ১৫টি। শ্রীলঙ্কার অধিনায়ক জিহান মুবারক খেলেছেন ৩৮টি ওয়ানডে, ১৬টি টি-টোয়েন্টি। আসল কথা হলো, ক্রিকেট মানচিত্রে নুয়ান জয়সা-জিহান মুবারকদের শ্রীলঙ্কার নামটাই বড়।

গেমস-পল্লিতে সকাল-বিকেল দেখা হয়, হাই-হ্যালো ছাড়া অবশ্য এখানে ম্যাচ নিয়ে দুই দলের ক্রিকেটারদের তেমন কথাবার্তা হয় না। আশরাফুল সেটাই জানালেন, ‘ম্যাচের কথা হয় না। “কেমন আছ” জাতীয় কথাই বেশি হয় দেখা হলে।’
জাভেদ মিয়াঁদাদ এটিকেই সম্ভাব্য সেরা ম্যাচ বলে রেখেছেন। মিয়াঁদাদের মতো সবারই একই অনুমান। আশরাফুল চাইছেন টস জিতে আগেই ব্যাটিং করতে। আজই সকালে পাকিস্তান-আফগানিস্তান প্রথম সেমিফাইনাল হওয়ার পর দুপুরে দ্বিতীয় সেমিতে খেলবে বাংলাদেশ-শ্রীলঙ্কা (বাংলাদেশ সময় সকাল সাড়ে এগারটায় শুরু)।
‘দ্বিতীয় ইনিংসে বল বেশি টার্ন করতে পারে’—আশরাফুল সতর্ক। কিন্তু আশরাফুলের দলকে সতর্ক থাকতে হবে মনস্তাত্ত্বিক চাপের বিরুদ্ধেও।
