Default Wasim Akram is going to coach the Tigers

Per Prothom Alo, Washim Akram is going to coach the Tigers for a month and half or so just before the WC 2015...

Good news indeed. Hope he could be a permanent bowling coach for the Tigers!
BCB, can you make it happen?

A coach cant change everything.
India have MRF PACE FOUNDATION .Denis Lily, mcgrath teach there but still india cant produce a quality pacer.

Wasim can fix the technical aspects like runup, action and follow through for the bowlers so that they are less prone to injury and can extract the maximum out of their action. The rest however is upto the individual to practice at the nets for hours and hours and get it right

Last minute training isnt going to do any good. Hire someone to work on a long term full time basis. Get likes of Wasim to come on a consultancy stint every now and then.

Technical issues only get resolved from hours and hours of of training.

We need Imran Khan to teach Mushy some leadership skills and especially the art of being aggressive!

Very happy to hear this. I hope and pray that he finds a way to get through to our guys and make them more coachable. Then again, there's always the possibility of those chronic underachievers simply tuning him out as usual. :fingers_crossed:

Interesting question-is Wasim Akram a good coach? Great player doesnt necessarily mean great teacher.

I ve heard Aaqib Javed has done a lot of good work in grooming young Pakistani bowlers. But really havent heard much about Akram's accolade.

Those formally coached by him in the IPL seem to think so. He has also informally helped out a great number of good Pakistani and Indian bowlers with invaluable tips since retirement. Asif, Aamer, Irfan Pat'han, and more recently, Mohammad Shami come to mind right away.

Akram would be great to inspire youngsters for short term clinics etc.

But BCB really need to tie up someone solid for a more long term role. Someone who ll work on a day to day basis. I ve written abt this in several posts. Sri Lanka's development in this sector is due to the hard work done by 4 individuals-Vaas, Ramanayake, Anusha Samaranayake, Nissanka. All high quality coaching personnel. When Ramanayake was in the BCB payroll he was the only one working, while Sri Lanka has 4. At present we only have Jurgensen who has been a flop as a bowling coach from the onset.

Would have really loved to see Bangladesh approach Grant Flower and Heath Streak. Flower could play the role of that batting coach we have been looking for in a while. Streak could fill the pace bowling role. Both are probably even more competent than Jurgensen even as head coach.

Short-term coaching before WC 2015 will not have much impact on the pacers. It takes a while for the pacers to master the tips and tricks given by the coach. But our boys will not have that time.

To me, it's simply an eye washing effort by BCB. Come on BCB. Fire JS and hire someone with good experience and skill for long term.

eder ke diye kichu hobena, we need new blood in our pace attack, Al-Amin might get better, Taskin might make a huge change, Nazmul aka stepson might come back strongly.
Otherwise Rubel in limited over could have been a Malinga type bowler if he had more control.

I feel that the presence of these players (ex) is just as good as a coach who is as timid as Shane is. Current players can learn a lot from wasim.

Wasim may not have coaching degrees but he has vast amount of experiences which no text book coaches can practically teach you. No wonder why fast bowlers from other part of the world are so keen to meet him and to have a discussion ! Even Brett Lee & Mitchel Johnson did not let go that chance begging !
