Taking cricket bat on flight
So, I am going to BD again this year ( Emirates ) and this time I am taking a newly bought Slazenger V500 Prodigy Senior for a friend in BD.
Because of the size of the bat, there is no way it will fit inside a luggage bag.
Can I wrap it up nicely in bin bag and take it with me so that it goes as a checked-in luggage which ends up at the cargo hold ?

You can buy cricket bats in BD?
(Yes, I know there are chances of ending up with knockoffs Slaz, but there has to be 1 or 2 decent stores?

Wrap it up and tie it up with your luggage. If it doesn't fit inside a luggage I doubt it will fit inside that little space they have for hand luggage. My nephew bought a huge sword from U.S. and he couldn't fit it inside his luggage on his way back ti England. So he put it inside a cardboard box and tied it up with his luggage. At first I told him I don't think they will let you take it like that, but it tuns out they did.

People do take outsized sports equipment - I've seen golf bags, surf boards etc. Why not just do the easy thing and call Emirates? Get it from the horses mouth.

I bought a bat from Jamaica and brought it back to the US without much problem. The customs agent asked what it was and when my mom and dad told them, they were fine with it. Just make sure to wrap it up well and you should be good to go.

Took my bat to Bangladesh a few years ago without any problems. Didn't have to pack it or anything, just went with the rest of the luggage.

You misunderstood his question - unless you checked in stumps and bats and bads as individual luggage items.
He was just going to wrap it in something, add a tag etc ...
Here's the Emirates FAQ:

Here's a relevant section:

For sports equipment other than that mentioned above, there is no special baggage allowance. Should your overall baggage weight or amount exceed the normal free allowance, excess baggage rates will apply. Please contact your local Emirates office for information on excess baggage rates.

You might have to pay for excess baggage fee.

^^^Was posting from the phone, didn't read the whole post.
I made sure the weight was within limit. We were 3 travelling, so had 6baggage x 50kg limit. It worked out fine. I used two bags for cricket gadgets, along with other clothing and misc. items.

Not Cricket bats, nor baseball nor softball bats and equipment of that ilk. That includes snooker cues, ski poles, ice skates, hockey sticks etc.
I'm sure no one needs to ask why.

Exactly what I was about to suggest!
When I went to India earlier in the year, I planned to buy a cricket bat from there so I took my cricket bag with me so I could use it as luggage as well as bringing the bat back

Bag or not, I'm not sure how you can bring explosive batsmen like Nazza! and Da Rock on flight from and to anywhere. Food for thought ...

It was on sale, thats why I got it for £10. And, I am not made of money, otherwise, I would have got the V200 Pro for £60! It's got some serious weight and the bottom of the blade is thick.
It's not tape tennis material like the Gray Hound, Slazenger V300 or the Larsen I had in the past.
Emirates have confirmed its ok. I usually travel light , my luggage bag is about 10kg. So, have plenty of baggage allowance
Now, hopefully, there will be no problems at Dhaka airport and some douche wont ask me for import duty!
