So who are the "popular players" on the Durham team who are atracting revenue in terms of admission fee today? Have you looked at the lineup - most of them don't play much and I think 2-3 are on debut. So what are you inclined to believe? The point I was trying to make is not rocket science. Please don't argue for argument's sake.

So what? So far all of them fielded their 2nd string team including today.

But having said that, I definetely know where we stand now.........that's miles behind the top teams!
I'm not unhappy that the BD "A" team is winning. A win is a win and that's what these guys need - although they haven't won the match yet it looks like they should. But I am unhappy that the county teams are not fielding more competitive teams. We lost the last 3 day game to a second string line up with one over to go in the day. But I think the team learns more when they play better players, and the county teams shouldn't just field their worst players because they are playing BD "A".
IMHO.......improvement is a gradual process. And for young players it's very important to play some close matches! Since they lost two 1st classes matches in nearly identical situations, I think it has been great experience for them. I only hope they will learn how to play under these conditions! And as for playing better quality players..... no doubt that is also very important and we should get that opportunity too!

Shahadat just took his 4th. Our pacers have been more encouraging on tour compared to our spinners - something to worry about since it's late in the season and Enamul, Razzak were supposed to have done better. But anyway, at least the pacers have had some moments of glory - even the unreliable Monir has been ok today. Mushfiq, on the other hand - I worry about him. Not getting a game and then getting plastered in the 3 overs he does get as a sub can't be doing his confidence any good. You have to give him credit for trying and wanting to go on this A tour - but his skills are just not there (anymore).

mushfiq has no skils...i don't know why a year ago he was one of my favorite players. he has a good ODI bowling econ tho.

razzaq has done well on this tour, good econ, and taken some wickets.

enam has played very few matches and even when he did his econ and SR weren't impressive. did not take many wickets either.

shahadat has improved almost every game.

his econ has been coming down, with 2 wickets and 2 maidens in a row here today.

rasel. is impressive...he could be our maharoof, our left handed mcgrath.

so for SL i think these players will make the final probables list:

*tushar (too many big scores to ignore, plus his rapid scoring is good for ODIs even if he only gets 20)

*abir (had some decent scores, the the BIG ONE today)

*nafees (just one good score, but i think he is just slower to develop, can't compare everyone to abir and aftab, remember it took ash and sachin 4 years to get their first ODI tons)

*shahadat (passing judgement after just 12 overs of bowling in a single test match is not only unfair, but a mark of idiocy as well given the guys height and talent)

*rasel (tight spells time and time again)

*razzaq (did well in SL last year)

*enamul jr (SL will be the true test)

again its a lot of players but not all of them will make the playing XI obviously. and some are only suited for one form of the game or the other.

Rasel is an interesting prospect since he is a lefty. He has opened the bowling in England ahead of Talha and Shahadat and has been economical as well as taken crucial early wickets. After mashrafee, the competition for the remaining 3-4 pacers they will take to SL is strong so I don't know if Rasel will make it. I guess we will talk about that more after this tour is over...

From 91/6 we were hoping for a lower score but Thorp showed he can play a bit and we still struggle to knock teams out. Mushfiq's 3 expensive overs gave away the initiative in the middle overs, and I thought mehrab bowled a couple of overs too many before the pacers were brought back. But overall, good win although let's hope the remaining matches can have us playing some of the stronger players....
