very well played Ryadi
The best thing is that before yesterday's match I & many of us were thinking Ryad & Nazim are the weak links in our batting, now that he got some runs he will be more confident & as a team it will make us stronger.

LOL. I wouldn't go that far bhai. Nazim has not even hit a 50 and averaging in the low teens. He's a fringe trying to prove he belongs. Mahmudullah on the other hand has been a regular on the team for quite some time now. I agree though that he was short of runs and he needed a good innings to prove himself which he did.

Now with the rise of Nasir... Riyad's not getting as many chances... but in situations like yesterday... I'd always back him to perform.

A big congratulations to Riyad, The Average Boy. You successfully stayed not out AGAIN and Shakib has nothing on you on that respect. Not your fault that there was no Shafiul at the other end! Carry on staying not out fella, you might break the record of most not outs some day!

i think the task was too much for riad, not easy to play yorkers and slower deliveries esp. in such a situations

problem was nasir and nazim playing up too many balls

He has the skills, just not the belief in his own ability!!!
Should never given strike to Razzaq for the final 2 balls or for the free hit either!!

He is such class and so much finesse in batting..just not the self belief unfortunately..

I do not blame him today at all....he tried his best.

It was a tough situation, he didn't try to hit out because he knew once he departs there are no recognized batsmen left.

let's analyze the match situation(last over):

there was an overthrow, so the strike went back to Razzak! Riyad's fault? I don't think so...
It was a tough situation for him indeed. today he would have been ideal at #4, unfortunately his recent past performances have not been too impressive so he + management missed out today.

Nothing praiseworthy but nothing blameworthy either....

Well done Mahmudullah. You tried your level best, but I'm afraid you're not a match finisher/winner type of player. Nonetheless, good job Riyad.

Without a doubt Riyad would've finished the game, if it wasn't for that over throw that got Razzak on strike - that's where we truly lost the game.

5 from 2 Riyad @ bat over 4 from 2 dangerous Razzak @ bat.

I was saying in the chat that if he can take us home then I'll add his name to my favourite players' list in BC. Unfortunately that didn't happen, but to be honest with him can't blame him at all for today's knock. Played quite sensibly and gave it his best while not hogging up the strike, also maybe that misfield by Cheema was a blessing in disguise for Pakistan as that allowed us to take three and gave Razzak the strike. And that moron lulla instead of giving the strike back to Riyad for the last ball wanted to be the hero again and failed miserably!

In my judgement, Riyad was not playing to win the match but to stay "not out" till the end. Only one boundary in 16 balls. What was he thinking? Razzak would finish the game for him? Riyad was the last full time batsman and he did not take the chance. He was relying on Mortaza and Razzak, like once he relied on Shafiul in the past. Just hit the freaking balls, finish the game by winning or loose your wicket and say you tried. He was keeping his wicket for what? It not not a 51 overs match but a 50 over match. He is really lacking some mental strength, strategy and responsibility. Nazimuddin's 52 balls 16 runs was another pathetic play. Nazimuddin should only be considered for Test where run rate does not matter.

Then why did he run on overthrow? If he wanted to win us the match, he should've kept the strike, no? Or did he once again just wanted the 'batsmen' at the other end win the match? Even when the umpire called a no ball, he took the single knowing the next ball would be a free hit! Had the tailenders like Mash and Raj won us the game we would be like 'Great job by Riyad for accompanying the tail ender. What a great finisher he is and he is so tall and handsome to boot!'

It would be illogical to not to run those very valuable runs! He trusted Razzak to give him the strike back or not do something stupid.

If Riyad hadn't taken the singles and we still ended up losing, we'd have be cursing him right now.

not a finisher but at the point he was batting it was very difficult to score the runs esp. when you didnt get to bat too much in the entire series and not to mention the pressure situation

Id rather have a big hitter like ziaur rahman in the squad, batting at lullah's position

I wonder if Mr. Riyad complained to the BCB officials about Cheema incident.

Ryad is definitely a good player, I wish him all the best.
Interesting thing abt Ryad is he has been in those tough moments for BD,in that WC match vs Eng Ryad-Shafi, In Asia cup vs Ind Ryad-Mushy, vs Srl Ryad-Nasir but sadly vs Pak Ryad-Shahadat.
