Riyad has certainly imp without doubt secured his ODI spot for awhile, given performances. He hasn't done that badly in tests has he? His biggest problem in tests is he'll get regular starts, even half centuries but won't go on with it, he's only got the 1 test hundred from 25 matches (48 innings), and that hundred came pretty early in his career.
Here are players coming through and riyad hasn't been outstanding in tests but he's done enough recently not to get dropped. In saying that if he continues to get starts and get half centuries and not go on with it then his position should be seriously considered because a test batsman needs to be able to play big innings.
The competition is exciting, kapali, rajin, tushar making great cases for comebacks and youngsters like asif ahmed and mosaddek hossain scoring well and consistently (as well as the openers in liton, rony, majid, shadman) pushing for debut, others like nasir, sabbir, soumya, hom.
Riyad in tests is currently doing what he's always done, doing just enough to keep his place in the team without really securing his spot long term.

I would personally give him 2 more series in the Test team before thinking about dropping him.

I agree with is, there is too much chopping and changing of roles for players whether it's a new player or accomodating and out of form older one. We are talking of giving liton a debut batting lower order in he longer format whilst keeping when he doesn't even do that in domestic cricket. Guys like naeem weren't really bowlers before national team runs but in the team were made to bowl. Soumya hasn't really bowled that much before, now mushy considers him a test pacer.
Best of giving players specific roles and sticking with that rather than changing things constantly, got to think long term. Here will be occasions where youngsters will come in lower down the order and move up whey get experience and improve and as older players retire but other than that there shouldn't be too many role changes inside the team, and certainly players shouldn't be picked and then their role changed once they get to the team, some may handle it but it's making it tough for them to succeed and almost setting em up for failure, we need to give them e best chance to succeed if we want a strong team.

Nasir being considered has been questioned, well nasir has a better FC and test record than riyad.

Yep I agree with that. They're messing about with Hom by playing him at 8 and turning him into an allrounder when he's a part-timer at best. You're in a lose-lose situation when you bat at 8. You don't really get time to settle and play a big innings and when you're batting with the tail it can be over pretty quickly.

That's still a Mystery even the journalists don't talk about it .. Pretty odd to see this happening without any explanation at all.

I think so. depends entirely on the context of the failures and looking at things from a holistic point of view(see the bigger picture) not just the stats. Base Assumption: Every ODI series Bangladesh plays = 3 matches. and the player in focus plays in all of the ODI matches. The criterion for a top order batsman should be judged differently than someone who bats at #7 or #8. He should be just fine if he scores that solitary 50 in one out of the next three matches and gets a substantial test contribution. I think he will hang around and not get dropped.
I do agree that he adds very little value at the moment in the T20 matches, but he has shown in the past that he can light it up in this format too if he really tries

Last year, He was bowling pretty solid in many matches(playing the second lead spinner role in many ODI matches). He is not trusted as a wicket taking option in test matches anymore now that Bangladesh uses Shakib + Taijul + Hom spin trio. Since Bangladesh now uses three seamer attack + Shakib + Sunny + Nasir chipping in with some overs too, it gives very little room for Riyad to hardly squeeze in an over or two in the current ODI lineup.

Now he can bat at 6 in ODIs. Sabbir should bat 3.

Great to see him take such responsibility, he's also filling in Nasir's role with the ball

If he comes that late in the innings, that's how he should be playing. Enjoyed his batting today. Also his bowling is bringing more value in this tournament with Sakib as the only spinner.

He is reinventing his batting with a different approach. He walked the walk after stating to be more aggressive in his approach. Great to see really, very admirable from Riyad

To be honest, Riyad always looked to be the more 'classical' batsman and Shakib the more canny bowler -- but can you imagine having two pure all-rounders in your side? It's like having 13 players!

Didn't rate him much when he first came in although he always had a good average (due to notouts). But over the years he has worked really hard and now his batting looks really pleasing on the eye.

Always knew Mahmudullah had big shots in him. If anyone remembers during a series against Ind in 2009 or something M'ullah was hitting it beautifully all around the park, and was one our key batters down the order. There's highlights of that series of which I'm referring to about, on youtube. Will post later.
