BDFlag Rokibul " The Rock" to lead BCB XI against Aus

Quote:
Rokibul Hasan will lead the BCB XI in the tomorrow's limited-over practice match against Australia at the Fatullah Cricket Stadium.

Australia, who arrived in the capital on Monday night, under the new leader Michael Clarke will open their campaign in Bangladesh with the lone practice match.

The visitors, who made an early exit from the recently concluded World Cup losing the quarterfinal game against champions India, will play three one-day internationals against Shakib Al Hasan's men on April 9, 11 and 13 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

The Australian players didn't turn up at the stadium yesterday for practice as they stayed in the hotel while a few did gym and swimming exercises in the hotel.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has drafted three national players in Rokibul, Alok Kapali and uncapped Shuvogoto Hom for the practice game while pace all-rounder Forhad Reza also gets a recall after a long break.

SQUADS
BCB XI: Rokibul Hasan (Captain), Mysukur Rahman, Rony Talukder, Mohammad Mithun, Farhad Hossain, Alok Kapali, Marshall Ayub, Shuvogoto Hom, Mahmudul Hasan, Shabbir Rahman, Forhad Reza, Nazmul Hossain, Mahbubul Alam and Shubhashish Roy.

AUSTRALIA: Michael Clarke (Captain), Shane Watson (Vice-captain), Xavier Doherty, Callum Ferguson, Bradley Haddin, John Hastings, Michael Hussey, Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee, Timothy Paine, Ricky Ponting, Steven Smith, James Pattinson and Cameron White.

Playing for Rajshahi. Nick name "Rial" form Bogra. Scored 2 back to back century but missed out on number 3 when he was 89 not out but the 4th day was washed out

Has Rock ever been captain before? It'll be interesting to see how his captaincy is. Its a good squad overall. Let's see who performs.

Alok should have been the captain but it doesn't really matter. Decent squad overall no SLA or a specialist spinner for that matter, good set of pacers however I would've picked Dhiman or Anamul instead of Mithun and Rony.

My XI:
Myshukur Rahman
Mithun Ali+
Rony Talukder
Rokibul Hasan
Shuvagoto Hom
Alok Kapali
Shabbir Rahman
Mahmudul Hasan
Farhad Reza
Nazmul Hossain
Shuvashish Roy

12th Man: Mahbubul Alam Robin

Will be interesting to see how Shabbir and Shuvagoto fare against the Aussie bowlers.

I think this is a very strong team.. almost like the A team. Glad that Forhard Reza is back along with other real performers.

BTW: Mysukur is there...but also, we need to think about the ongoing NCL teams. We cannot impact the league by pulling all the key players from teams which Anamul Haque and Asif is part of. The former is a wicket-keeper too, so its not easy to replace him..

This is not BD A team. This is BCB XI.

Marshal played for the A-team in 4/5 series away and home.

Unless we announce the 2012 T20 squad or even the playing XI for the fist ODI without him, I think we'll be okay.

Raqibul is not really bad of a player. His form doesnt support my theory offcourse but this is the very player who had double centuries in First Class cricket, played in Australia and emonstrated his ability to play copy book shots...But I was surprised that he was given the task as captain.. probably to bolster his confidence or give him a face saving exit, I guess. I hope he finds his form back against the Aussies..

It is good to let Shakib off captaincy, it will relieve some pressure. He will be offered captaincy again in a few years when he will be more than ready, Bangladesh will voyage into a new horizon then
