Time to create a new BD cricket forum?

I am sorry to say this but we need a new forum.

Banglacricket.com is slow and often takes time to load threads on matchless days. On match days, good luck! Moreover, the ERROR 500's do not help when you type a long reply and it's lost. It has also not been maintained for many years.

Can I have some thoughts please on the logistics behind a new forum?

VBULLETIN is not free and costs $249/year
PHPBB is free and there are a lot of themes that you can choose.

The value of the Banglacricket.com domain is about $1700

No development of the site since 2004 everything moves on but this forum didn't.

Nope, stopped caring like most here. Team isn't doing exceptional either. After 10+ years of Shakib/Tamim/co, not much to see after. Kinda should tell you the reality of our cricket and interest

Have you guys considered Discord? It’s the go to platform for building communities and people can still maintain anonimity

Actually i’m not sure if a real-time chat platform like Discord would be a good replacement for BanglaCricket. I found the quote below which I think is quite accurate:

Discord is real-time chat; forums are threaded discussions. Both are forms of talking on the internet, but they are fundamentally different. The modern alternative to forums is Reddit, more or less

So yeah, maybe the better choice is Reddit?

Logging in after the 2019 CWC. Yesterday's loss against Sri Lanka gave me painful flashbacks of the 1 4 4 W W W against India on the 2016 World T20. As someone mentioned on that match thread "Only Bangladesh is capable of ****ing it up from here", and they did

I think a lot of fans including myself have ended up going to r/Cricket on Reddit. I agree with Abirz, maybe a Discord chat or a Bangladesh Cricket subreddit would be a better approach.

This is my first post since 2013. I've visited the forum a couple of times since but didn't feel like posting anything. With all those franchise T20 tournaments, cricket got boring, at least for me. I will not be posting regularly but it will be sad to see this forum die.

I will consider spending time on a new forum when our team improves.
Until then, I have other things going on in my life that take priority!
