Andre Nel attempts suicide :(
Ex-Protea attempts suicide
FORMER Protea cricketer Andre Nel apparently tried to commit suicide on Friday night after it was revealed that he had had an affair.
The 33-year-old fast bowler’s wife Deaane Weitz yesterday confirmed to an Afrikaans newspaper that doctors were called to their home in Irene, outside of Pretoria, on Friday night after Nel tried to take his own life.
This comes after The Times revealed last week Nel had a two-week affair with 34-year-old Londoner Jelena Kultiasova while he was in England playing county cricket last month.
Kultiasova said she had only found out he was married via the Internet when he returned to South Africa on September 20.
Nel admitted to the affair, saying Kultiasova was a “friend with benefits … we kissed twice and only had sex two or three times possibly”.
The next day two more women – one from Durban and another Londoner, only known as Julliette – also claimed to have had affairs with Nel, saying they “felt angry and deceived” by the cricketer, who had told them “lies about being divorced and single”.
On Friday a fourth woman, alleged to be a prostitute from Pretoria, also came forward and told the Afrikaans newspaper she had slept with him, although Nel said all he did with her was “ have phone sex”.
Weitz, who is expecting their first child in April, is said to have moved out of their home earlier on Friday and has since moved in with her parents in Benoni after she learnt Nel had visited the Pretoria prostitute four times since November 2007.
“He is not in any immediate danger and there are many doctors looking after him,” she said. — By GABISILE NDEBELE The Times, Avusa Group News.

Really bad news. Not a role model to say the least.

Very tough...wish him well and hope to see him return back to life and fix these issues, move on, try to be a better human and take control of his own destiny, action and life. A very good fast bowler and athlete.
