now i get it....wow!

but, i was also thinking of putting one spot for all the freedom fighters instead of just filling up 7 extra spots like the music industry....and also encapsualte rani hamid and niaz morshed into one.

so basically it's like 108....

41. PC Roy?
42. Abul Hussam [he's in]
43. Irene Khan?
44. Khan Jahan Ali
45. Suchita Sen?
46. Monica Ali? (we don't want an ekgheye type of list from one discipline but rather an assortment from different fields with sepcial emphasis on modern ones)
47. Hason Raja?
48. AK Fazlul Haque (multi-talented) [in]
49. Atiśa Dipankara Shrijnana [in]

This list, in my humble opinion, could very well start with:

Atish Dipankar Srijnan.

No one mentioned Muhammad Zafar Iqbal yet?

Among the living ones I think he is one of the most prominent.

That's the crux of the matter, Rubu vai.

I deliberately left him out because there are thousands of sci-fi writers in the world. I don't just want a genius. I want the genius. The ones who not only in our country, but in the entire world leave a prominent mark. (exception hanif shonket?...not because of his comedy but his linguistic gymnastics).

And billah vai, that's an interesting thought.

its hard to figure out the genius if we do not list all the 'a genius'. Anyway, he is not just a sci fi writer, he is also a scientist and a social reformer. And I like him most for this reason.

I used to like his work when I was young. I forget the title, but you know the novel [***********SPOILERS AHEAD*************] where the entire planet turns out to be a giant organism soooo ignited my imagination that i was truly in awe of his work until i grew up to learn that it wasnt his theory at all but just Gaia [sp?] Hypothesis. Also, as I read more and more of his novels, I realized he has a lot of Asimovian touch into him. If you were to translate his novels into English and submit to publishers, I can guarantee it won't create any buzz and would be deemed as "avg" [no disrespect to him].

On the contrary, his brother possess the very stroke of genius he lacks. He seems to lack that originality while Humayun Ahmed has this watermark in his storylines. He has his own style; unfortunately, Zafar Iqbal doesn't.

Just my opinion....

If there seems to be a popular demand for him, I am sure we can include him.

Addition: Dance Genius Akram Khan.

I am not in it, so there must be something wrong in that list.

In my standard, that's average. Maybe even underweight depending on which angle you are looking from.

He should be featured in that list, period.

So what? He is of Bangladesh origin.
Every time you'd hear about him in the media, it would be mentioned, "son of a Bangladeshi migrant......"

Khan Jahan Ali - if it is the same Khan Jahan Ali of Bagerhat then he was an Iranian. I would rather nominate
Dr Rashid - the founding VC of BUET,
Qamrul Hasan - the designer of our flag,
Rafiq-un-Nabi aka Ranabi - the founder of Tokai
Dr Ibrahim - the founder of BIRDEM
Satayan Bose - who corrected Einstein's theory
Ramaslal Majumder - the historian
the guy who discovered Mohenjedaro
the guy who measured Mt. Everest (some Sikder)
T_E,
though I would not disagree the contribution of Nawab Family of Dhaka in the development of Dhaka in my eye they are Rajakars; they bought the title of Sir by sucking our farmers. With the exception of Jagataish Bosh I do not give of damn of all the Indian knight

he is the only guy i was thinking of, but recently have you read the ummad magazines? quality deteriorated very badly...he should have stuck to what he did best.

rest...are just pioneers and founders. you can have hundreds like them. Khan Jahan Ali was included but now I have to go and double check if he is born inside Bangladesh...

And yeah, we can make an exception for Jawed Karim.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Much appreciated.

Ranobi is not related with Unmad. Unmad is founded and edited by Ahsan Habib - the youngest sibling of Humayan Ahmed. You must be a genius to be the pioneer. In your same logic Dr Younus, Dr Abed is out. Anyway , I added some more in my original post
