Thumbs down Shane Jurgensen: Although we lost the game we are not defeated

Etar maneta ki? Ami to kisui bhujlam na.

Quote:
“We have come here to win, but at the same time we know that Zimbabwe are a tough opponent, we always knew that. Although we lost the game we are not defeated. I promise everyone back home in Bangladesh that as a support staff and as a cricket team, the players will be doing everything they can to fix it.”
-DailyStar

Quote:
"Losing a game is not ideal, especially as it was a game a lot of people may have expected us to win. But if you actually look at the record of Zimbabwe in their own country, they have performed quite well, so I don't understand why people seem to be very upset."
-Cricinfo

Ah! This confirms it. We'll see a similar show on the 2nd test. As always they don't realize they effed up, or don't want to admit it. I've never heard anyone from BD camp straight forward say, "we messed up." Instead we always get these gibberish. As long as they fail to accept their flaws, they will keep failing it.

IDK why people are upset he says... SMH

I think they know it that they messed it up big time... or atleast I am hoping that they know it.

This is a desparate damage control attempt by the coach even though it is not going to fly well among the fans. Its better that the coach is taking the heat and not let the players face the press and try to justify their performance... the way they played, there is no way to justify or rationalize it.

Any way, looks like the popular wish (among fans) will be grannted. After this performance JS's future with BD is sealed. ZIM series was so critical for us, I don't see how JS will survive after this series.

chakri choila geley abar tuitar e eita sheita bolbe, "bhaat dito magar logey peyaj kacha morich chaile dito na" hen ten.

But by saying "Althgh we lost the game but we are not defeated" I think what he meant is we lost it but we are not done yet, we will come back, there is still another match.
I don't mind with that but when he says ".. I don't understand why people seem to be very upset." I don't like it.

I guess it means nothing but the mental aspect of the team. He's trying to say the players will grit in out, at least mentally, to bounce back. But what is disturbing is when he said this: "But if you actually look at the record of Zimbabwe in their own country, they have performed quite well, so I don't understand why people seem to be very upset."

Really? We shouldn't be upset when batting wise we have a pretty strong contingent that should've done 10 times better than what they did and possibly win the match?

@ Fazal, that's the thing though. It's always damage control speeches. We fans aren't stupid. We know what's going on. It wont help. Better yet, just admit it, instead of trying to bury it.

I think it is damage control. But, anytime someone does not have the guts to admit it when they messed up, I lose some respect for them.

That's what most professional coaches would say. And looks like they're putting good effort in, so lets see. It's always a lose-lose for coaches when they say something after losing - if he'd said something like they sucked then people might have bashed him for being pessimistic and giving up.

Next match is crucial, hope they don't go with three pacers since it failed - but just pick their two best instead.

Playing in the same venue might be a blessing in disguise, who knows.

You're implying our players have brains, which isn't likely.

Yeah, coaches that are trying to save their jobs. Bold coaches and players just fess up.

I've never heard a single BD player just accept their failures. Even when it's as obvious as 58, 78 WC11. Shows the lack of man-balls.

We are humiliated, buried, cremated.... But yes, we aren't defeated. We never accept defeats.

Understand what he means..but it will become a joke, if we fail to win the next test ... That's the bottom line, for making this statement. Lets see if he knows his team...

Top to bottom, the same problem: CYA. No personal responsibility or accountability. Uncanny ability to bury one's head in one's asss and see stars.

Is this the 'jumped the shark' moment for Shane?

There has to be a better system to help out of form players... Riyad was clearing having a bad time from the last series, but the management still pursued with him. Now, Riyad definitely has a future with bangladesh, so if he was dropped temporarily to give him space to develop his game, wouldn't it benefit the team and the player?

For the second test, I would prefer to have Riyad in the team over SN. Mominul should definitely play. If Tamim is 100% fit, then he can come into the team in place of Riyad.

There is no shame in getting defeated by a better side as long as our team fights hard. The fans are angry in the manner we lost. The fact that we didn't put up any fight with our batting and couldn't take 20 wkts hurts more than the defeat.
