Absolutely right TE chachu! May I add to that, we are also a race and a nation of big A$$ Worshipers!! Feed the players more, make them big a$$ed, and then the opposition bowlers won't see the wicketkeeper or even the sight Screen, let alone the wickets!! Just look at our Big Akram Khan bhai saheeb and think of him batting and blocking the sunshine.

I was really happy with the effort of our pacers in Asia Cup. Looked like SJ had an impact. But that seemed short lived. We are not expecting miraculous improvements from Mashrafe, Shafiul, etc. At least get to bowl in the zone.Get them to bowl with a plan. Make it a rule, you must bowl in good length 80% of your delivers. There seems to be no rules, no plan, nothing.

Bangladesh pacers are just going out and trying their luck as if they are in a casino. And seems like the guys are not listening. Mushfiq walked up to Shafiul after he got whacked. Probably gave him some advice. Next ball what does he do? Ball another short one, and get hit for 6.
Even Stuart Law rightly attributed this to the BPL...

When the selections are all stupids what can u get from Shafiul or abul???? They are proven failure. But our heavyweight champion AKram has no clue what he's doing with the pace bowlers...Even he's giving Dollar, Rabiul, Shahadat to play for A team...not the AlAmin, Emon, Shubhashish, Tareq aziz, Taskin a chance at all.....The problems is with the selections...Proven failures are always going to fail...Akram doesn't get it.

I wont blame sj or our pacer in this case. Even pak bowlers like gul, tanvir were thrashed in this pitch. Mash didnt bowl bad at first game but it was mcculum, who changed the scenario of 1 st match. When u have that kinda performance from one guy--- team lose all hopes. Even before 2 nd innings start, they know they will lose.

2nd match against pak, shakib did what mcculum did for nz, but team selection was poor. Choosing abul instead of elias was mistake. He not only bowl badly , he dropped nazir's loppa catch and confirm the defeat. Mushfiq should have brought razzaq earlier and instead he finished 5 over with bowlers and make pakistan batsman set. Shafiul didnt bowl that bad either, but he missed 2 wkt, thanks to abul and umpire

Shakib is like superman. He cant do anything wrong. His first over lbw was turned down by umpire.

With all this assistance pakistan took the game till 19 over and won it

Our practice was not sufficient. We flew 10000 miles to play t 20 with afghan and west indies c team. Then warm up match was against same old friend ireland and zim, when other team played with strong opponent and find out their strength.

We played practice match in neutral venue, while india played in rps stadium, where they will play till semifinal and their preparation was against nz, srilanka, pakistan

Pakistan played practice match against india and england, before they played long series against australia

Nz has been playing with top teams like india, saf for last 2 or 3 months.

I think playing against weaker team and bad umpiring cost us the tournament.

what i want to know is why the pacers don't improve at all. i mean they practice everyday, play matches all the time, have coaches around them. if you keep doing something you get better at it even if slowly, you don't just stay at the same level, especially when the talent is there, which it is. anyway, maybe it's because ian comes onto the forum and gives us a bit of insight and perspective and a bit of info from his POV as a coach, but he seems like the best man for the fast bowling coach job. of course for all we know shane and others say similar things to what ian does, we just don't know. although weren't our pace bowlers their most successful when ian was coaching them?

One of our most successful coaches ever was Ali De Winter. Did a terrific job with our youngsters. Pleased to see him as the bowling coach of Australia. Mind you he has beaten more established guys like Gillespie, Bichel to the job.

Hope one day we can bring him back like we brought back RM, and we got Siddons (Aussie batting coach). One of the few guys who actually understood our players.

Just correcting you- Winter didn't beat Gillespie or Bichel, those guys were not interested. http://www.espncricinfo.com/australi...ry/566867.html. But no doubt he is a good coach, recently praised for changing Ben Hilfenhaus's bowling action and bringing him back to form after injury. Didn't realise though that he coached in Bangladesh. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allister_de_Winter.

You are right firstlane. But i think there were some big names in their shortlist including Waqar. Winter is very highly regarded.

I can't see any improvement at all in the fielding dept. If you say coaches can't field for you as an excuse, then its time for a change.

Fielding has been average. Nothing spectacular. We are still way behind India, Sri Lanka and even Pakistan. Its no different from the time our homegrown fielding coach Mohammad Salahuddin was in charge.

The cliche goes, fielding is an area where a lesser team can easily be better than a more established side. Unfortunately we havent taken this point seriously. We cant bat, cant bowl...heck we cant even field properly.

Our fielding is much better than Pakistan and slightly better than India's.

The fielding performance isnt consistent, but yes I agree we are definitely better than Pakistan [who have improved considerably under JF] and on our good day even better than India. As a young side, this is one department we should be topping in.

Good Indian fielders in their current line up: Kohli, Raina, Dhoni and Yuvraj
Poor Indian fielders in their current line up: Zaheer, Harbhajan, Ashwin, Chawla, Gambhir (when not fielding up close)

Good Pakistani fielders in their current line up: Umar Akmal, Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Umar Gul
Poor Pakistani fielders in their current line up: Kamran Akmal (as WK), Nasir Jamshed

Good Bangladeshi fielders in our current line up: Nasir, Shakib, Tamim, Ashraful
Poor Bangladeshi fielders in our current line up: Abul, Mushy (as WK)

The main problem with many of the fielders I categorized as poor is that they are simply too slow. It's interesting that people like Yuvraj and Tamim are surprisingly nimble fielders and good catchers despite packing extra pounds.

The first ball Masrafe bowled in the Pakistan's batting innings which the batsmen edged; watching Ashraful dive at full stretch was like witnessing a sunflower blossom in the mid day sun. It was so elegant to watch especially in slow mo. Loved the commitement.

I didn't really get mad at Ashraful like others did for missing that catch because his commitment is what took my mind away from that failure to hold on to the ball. Now imagine what a catch that would be if he held on to that ball. Ash

We are nowhere near Sri Lanka and India in terms of fielding. Pakistan, may be close on team level. But on an individual level their have better fielders than ours. Sri Lanka and India have fielders miles ahead of our best guys. Good fielding is not just hanging onto normal catches? Its about doing the extra bit to prevent runs, pulling off a difficult catch, getting a direct hit, putting fear in the batsmen so that they dont attempt quick singles. A good fielding unit can wipe off 20-25 runs solely through good ground fielding. Yeah we have a few decent fielders, but lets not get too carried away

It says quite a lot when some people don't even know the bowling coach in Shane Jurgensen.

That's really a stupid thing to say. I doubt if every single English or Aussie cricket fans know who their bowling coaches are. He is a bowling coach ffs, not media manager. His job is to coach the bowlers mostly staying behind the scene, not to go to every single forum and blog to explain himself. if he does that I will start to think that he believes he is not good at what he does and is trying to convince people in other ways to save his job. By the way if you are a regular member of BC but don't know who SJ is time to rethink the reason you come here for.
