Default Should Bangladesh Pursue 3 Wicket Keepers Option?

This has been in the discussion-in the dressing room, board room, and most importantly in this forum

Mohammad Isam's article also sheds light on the situation.

What should Bangladesh do with regards to its wicketkeeping situation?

I ve gone with Option 3.

As much as Mushfiq contributes as an all rounder (Wicketkeeper+Batsman), i would like to see him focus more on his batting in tests, bat higher up the order.

He could take the gloves in ODI's, as it gives us the chance to pick an extra batsman or bowler.

I think we need for a complete clean slate in the T20's. Clearly whatever we have done is not working. Perhaps time to pick a new set of players specially suited for this format. I dont think Mushfiq is the best person for this format. Nurul has these unconventional shots, dilscoops, reverse sweeps, paddle sweeps. There is a chance he might be able to contribute more as a number 7 in T20's than Mushfiq does from any position.

Didn't read but

Mushfiq bat at 4 or 5 depending on team combo no gloves

ODIs gloves and bat 5,

Not sure he should be in t20's, like to see him open or bat in top 3 once though, think in t20's his type of player bat's right at the top

How about Mushfiq as batsman and leave the WKing to someone else who is better?
Can't vote, because of the limited option. You are forced to vote for Mushfiq with the gloves.

Taar maney Jeesh da, bolen ki? Then we will have three wicket-keepers, like Human Centipede...and only 7 regular fielders and 1 bowler?? Taholey tow aar caught-behind-er catch miss korar kuno scope thaklow naa...eita amar kachey kub balo legechey! Then, I voted for Eibhabei cholchey gaari, choluk Thelaa-gaari...Musfiquer for all three format, since we will have 2nd man WK and a 3rd man WK by the boundary line.

I voted for 3 wicketkeepers in 3 formats. Mushfiqur is very important to us as a batsman. On the other hand, Nurul and Liton are better keepers. Wicket keeping is a specialist position and a very good keeper can play a vital role for the team. In addition to that, both Nurul and liton are quite capable batsman.

Playing Nurul hasan at no.7 is a good option. He can play those unconventional shots and he can run quick between the wickets. Liton das is a good test prospect and deserves to be in the test squad. Mushfiqur can take the gloves in Odis as of now.

Just pick the best option for each format, that might mean 3 keepers or it might not. Liton is a terrific test prospect gloves or no gloves, even nurul if he can average 35+ with the gloves then he'd be a really good test prospect. Liton has been disappointing in the shorter formats lately, I think for now he should be in the test team but he's a work in progress in the other formats.

Mushy ideally doesn't keep in any format unless needed but with liton and nurul around I think he may only be needed as a keeper in 50 over cricket.

There are a couple of young keepers to watch out for also. Zakir Hasan is the obvious one, he came from the u19 team so no surprise. Jaker Ali so far might be another prospect, he's consistent with a good strike rate, not sure what his keeping is like or how he looks as a batsman but stats would suggest he's a prospect.

The guy loves to keep, probably wont give up on it unless selectors/management force.

There is a definite advantage though in ODI's if Mushfiq bats and keeps. Allows us to pick an extra batsman/all rounder for number 7.

Nurul batting at 7 doesnt quite give you the same confidence as a Mosaddek or Nasir.
