Default Bangladesh 5th at SAF Games

Rank Country G S B Total
1 IND 101 59 31 191
2 PAK 42 55 50 147
3 SRI 15 33 57 105
4 NEP 7 6 19 32
5 BAN 3 11 26 40
6 AFG 1 3 28 32
7 BHU 1 3 2 6
8 MAL 0 0 0 0

A generally disappointing performance:

1. We should have at least pipped Nepal in the total medal tally. Not conceivable as of now to even think of vying with India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
2. We lost to Pakistan in football and bowed out.
3. We only got the bronze in Kabaddi as opposed to the usual silver. Pakistan is coming up fast.

Positives

1. The golds in shooting
2. Swimming - even though we did not get as much as we could have, the performance of our under-trained swimmers was good and we see some new talents. The spirit of Brojen Das and Musharraf Hossain lives on.

Default Why are there so many gold medals in this minor competition?

India got over 100 Gold medals in this competition. It doesn’t prove anything for their sporting ability beside cricket.

Prediction for Indian performance in Olympic in Athens.
Gold: 0
Silver: 0
Bronze: 1

We can't compete with Pakistan or Nepal or Sri Lanka, there isn't any hope for us. It is too easy for India.

Soccer was a dissapointment but BFF was brave enough to admit that it was not the players fault. They only had 7 days to prepare. On top of that, we do not have Kottan. He was the architect behind our last success.

Kabadi - Pakistan have been our main competitor for the last 10 years or so and they have a better record against us.

Shooting - we should have won more golds. We have won much more then these before.

Swimming - we did as usual.

TRack - disapointing as usual.

Was there any volleyball, basketball or similar competitions this year ?

Brother, in sydney 2000 olympic India won one bronze medal. So by considering that performance, I guess rassel predicted this.

Yep, Leander and Bhupati have taken Indian Tennis to new heights in men's doubles. Leander also partners with martina navratilova (yep, the one and only) for the mixed doubles.

Determination, Sincerity and Professionalism are the main ingredients of success, and anatomy of unsuccessful event is the navigator of future course of action. But what we did, we are not doing our homework
