Raqibul:

4 50+ scores in 12 ODI innings
10 50+ scores in 34 First-class innings
12 50+ scores in 33 List A innings

That's an average of one 50+ score in about every three innings he bats, in every form of the game he has played. Now THIS is consistency. THIS is what our experienced players should learn from.

I wish Raqibul the best of luck and I hope he can maintain this consistency well into the future.

Idiocy + Doosra = Tonight's Humiliation.

Nazim hit more than he missed today and I'm glad he did.

Nirala continues to become a different player after reaching 50, but better 50 than 40, or 30, or 15, or 8 !

Another classic PMI from Obhi who managed not to use his newly-found favorite word, or introduce us to a new one ... :nachon_kudon:

Once again, Jaya, Murali, Vass, Sanga combo leave us with no answers. I am tired of Sri lanka.

I actually enjoyed Nazim's batting for survival, good to see he is not giving up easily. Only if he were not running around like a headless chicken ....

Yesterday, our batters didn't give it easily. Tamim, Nazim, Rokib tried their best. Ash was looking good, until that pull shot that went up straight. The reamining batters were just clueless against the Doosra of Muralidharan.

Tired of being made their b**** ? We better try and do something about it with a bit of accurate bowling or learn to like it.

Nobody really has a good answer for Murali's well-scripted doosras, and if we expect our boys to do what far better men have failed to, we'd only be punking ourselves again and again.

The scary thing is this: after Sana, Murali and Vaas retire, only GOD knows when given their exceptional fitness levels, we'll still have Sanga, Mali and Mendis to deal with for years to come. Expect Mahela to join the party after this bad patch, not to mention Maharoof, DilFer, Chamaras S and K, Malinda Warnapura, Vandort, and even Jehan Mubarak.

I wouldn't buy no shades anytime soon.

how to play murali's doosra?

solution1:
defend the delivery at the last moment before it dislodges the bells of the offstump with the middle of the bat. and you have a dot ball(works best on tests )

solution2:
as soon as the ball lands on the turf go down the track in advance and hit it straight from the lower middle portion of the bat fo an easy six, problem? you have to have an eye like a hawk and read the delivery very accurately and as soon as the ball lands on the soil and about to start bouncing at that moment you hit it (you have to come down the track)

Problem: cricket is a very fast paced game! we are only human beings, due to the amount of raction time batsmen are given, it is obviously very difficult to pick the right doosra, plus real time game scenarios(especially Bangladeshi batsmen) and the added extra pressure makes it even more impossible.

the secret to murali's doosra is the twitching of his middle finger at the last moment he releases the delivery and the pitch and where the ball lands.(this is just guesswork, info may or may not be true).

overall, batsmen should be ready for the ball to "turn" anywhere at any moment to have success against this world class spin master.

btw, it is a terrible idea to cut and/or pull in murali's doosra, even world class batsmen have gotten out trying to cut or pull a doosra(which makes murali even more dangerous since most batsmen cuts or pulls against any type of off-spin)

Yea bery turu.

But, I would rather deal with the rest than those three. Murali, Sana and Vass just simply has our number, to borrow a phrase from American sport lingo, and from now on, I am eagerly waiting for their retirement. Had enough of these lot.

Mahela don't scare me as much. He goes hot and cold, against all opponents, but Sana, Sanga ( who will still be there for years ), Murali and Tharanga just feast on us. When Mahela is on, he will score, and score heavily against every opponent.

Their fitness level is really amazing. Must be the island living. In that regard, they are almost like a stranger to the sub-continent and I see them having more in common with the Carribeans, both in terms of physique and athletecism.

Murali didn't play in the only match we won against them. Just without Murali and Jaya our odds against them will increase significantly.

And at times it seems Jayasuriya can only fire against BD. Both with the bat or with the ball. Minnow bashing at its best. The only team against whom he has a 50+ average and estonishing strikerate. (against whom he played over 3 matches).

Now a new consistant tormentor has emerged. Sangakkara!!

Sangakarra did badly against the Windies recently. Nevertheless, a very good batsman keeper.

That may be a good news for us - if Jaya continues to under perform against other teams, he may be soon forced out of SL team. Then may be we won't have to face him when SL come to tour Bangladesh end of this year.

I lost count of how many times he had "retired" or been dropped permanently in recent times. Doesn't this guy understand he has to give up sometime?

Whatever happened to Upul Tharanga? Are the Lankans waiting for another BD tour to revive his career?

Yes, the island living, high school rugby, and the excellent cuisine may contribute to the physique and athleticism. Sri lankan food is really outstanding. Always the freshest ingredients and the unique taste somewhere between South India and Thailand ! ... yumm.

Yes, they are heading three vital departments at the moment. WC 2011 has to be the end of all of them, if not before.
