Attractions of Dhaka: Holiday Help
Hey guys. I am in Singapore now, enroute to Dhaka. I have not been to Dhaka for 3 odd years now and have no idea what it is like these days. According to some of my friends, they have opened a Pizza Hut in Gulshan and a huge mall somewhere(can't remeber the name).
Can you guys please suggest some places to eat, malls, cricket shops etc. for me to visit. I really want to make this trip a memorable one as this is the first time i am coming to Bangladesh in a long time.
Thanks guys...Cholo Bangladesh

You may contact Fazal.
He had opened a similar thread for suggestions while he was planning to visit BD.. though he never ultimately made the tour...

Well, for cricket shopping, go to Faruk's (Our national selector) shop on Elephant Road. You may even see him and/or other cricket personalities there, if you are lucky. You'll get to a display of souvenir signed cricket bats. You will also see our national team's current ODI shirts etc. The store is well-stocked with high quality stuff.

i went back to dhaka after 6 years and i didnt find any drastic change, other than the 2 fly-overs nd 1 pizza hut nd A&W restaurant...
so i wonder how ppl forget whats in and whats not in dhaka in 3 years.....
but back to the question.....there is the new shopping mall in bahsundhara, accross the intersection from shonarga hotel....its big but the top floors are quite empty....that was last time i went in..
there is the pizza hut in gulshan but its very expensive....600 bucks for a nice pizza....
pizza-hut here in australia cost much less without coupons..

I visit Bd every year and i see changes on each of my visit. May not be a huge change but whatever it is always appreciable. When last time i visited, i've noticed local ppl carrying their trash and looking for a garbage. Not all but yes some of them. It's a sort of small revolution for me. B4 we haven't had world class pizza, now we have. May be expensive but atleast we can taste it if we would like to.
Some of us are just so much in fantasy by living abroad that we forget to appreciate these small changes.
Yo Tiger_man, how much does Foochka cost you in Australia without a coupon? In our country u get a full plate in just 20 taka.

Any way.... about Pizza Hut. Three plus years ago, I tried the Pizza Hut in Gulshan. I really liked the pizza there. Yes the price was kind of little bit higher than USA. But the food quality, environment as well as the service was much better than USA. Actually I went there thrice in that visit to Dhaka. I recommend there at-least once.
And about Fuska? I tried in two places: one was in Mydus (or something like that) opposite to Azad/Mosque and the other one was a busy store opposite to New Market (Just besides the bridge to cross the road). Both were great. You Should try Fuska also, but make sure you take off-the-shelve loose-motion prevention medicines.

Is that the same Inter Sports that can be found in the UK. If so, I'm very surprised.

If you are a Bangladeshi your trip to Dhaka should be memorable with or without Pizza Hut, Bashundhara City and so on.

I reckon Zia airport just got worse...Its simply horrible.
Last time i went to BD, the time I spent in immigration, just to get that freakin passport sealed took longer than my flight from Singapore..
It pissed me off to the bone to see those red toothed immigration officer with life sized glasses typing at 0.00005 wpm the details, chewing paan casually while people from 3 diffent flights are waiting in massive queues.
I dont care what you guys say but this country has serious problem. I am not talking about prosperity, infrastructure, number of shopping malls or food court but about basic ethics in workplace and public.
