So, Ireland will be in our group if they qualify, right ?
Qualifiers from Group A will play in Group A in WC, is that how it works ?

I have read somewhere Ireland will be in same group as Zimbabwe if they top the table.

I think BD would prefer Ireland over Afghanistan. With Ireland we know that they are a good side but there is also a sense of predictability with their players and what they can do. We beat them 3-0 in their own conditions.
Afghanistan to me is a total wildcard and they seem more dangerous because of all the unknowns.

Anyone know how the teams were placed in their respective group? I feel like Group A is set up to help USA qualify. Afghanistan, Netherlands and Scotland all in one group? While Ireland is the only dominant team in Group A.

Won't be very easy for USA either, they have to overcome Ireland, Canada and UAE, which won't be easy.

My prediction:

Group A: Ireland, Canada, UAE/USA
Group B: Afghanistan, Netherlands, Scotland

Wow Italy beat Bermuda who took part in the 2007 World Cup! They've done well to get to the qualifier stage.

PNG beat Ireland in a warm up game: http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc-worl...ch/660079.html

Man, they can't even beat PNG in a shorter version, yet ask for Test status.

Then again, we lose to Turkmenistan every time we play there.

Probably much before the days we started dreaming of international cricket let alone test cricket. We also did not brag on about anyone's else's test status (something which we never did and never will).

Not that long ago. Just look at the ICC trophy prior to the one that hit us to our first World Cup. And we are no more saintly than others if you go by all the derogatory comments we make about the the Irish or the Scots or the Afghans.

We did not ask for people's status to be taken Away because we didn't have a solid cause to do so. Back in the days our main opponents were Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe and they used to whip our sorry behind every time we played them. Thats not the case for Ireland. They have beaten us several times over the years.. Its us who gave them the option to do so.

During our ICC era, tell me how many times we got chance to play international matches against top teams besides asia cup? Today IRE and AFG get more exposure, more cricket. Every other day afg are playing either ire or scotland, we didnt have that luxury. And everytime we played asia cup , we had to qualify for that.Comparing todays IRE/AFG with ICC era BAN is not right, its not apple to apple. I never knew back then SL were our main opponent, thought ZIM were. As far as my memory serve, we never face them to qualify for WC. It was ZIM.

Upsets of the day

U.S. beat Canada, Netherlands beat Afghanistan and PNG beat Kenya

PNG looks like the dark horse in this tournament. Australians are helping them develop their cricket and it showing.

I'd love more of these upsets to come

I have been watching this doco on Fox sports tonight on team Italy. Apparently most of the team members are from Bangladesh, Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka. They are having a mini asian sub continent going on there and doing great things for Italian sports. Cricket is fast becoming very popular amongst schools and colleges.

Go team Italy!

Why's Steve Tikolo still playing? He's 42, time to have grand kids.

Surprised Bermuda beat Scotland. I'd love to see Uganda win a game or two.
