^^ well even if they had all the money in the world they still could not but both Shakib and Tamim because each team is only allowed 1 overseas player according to county cricket rules. silly I tell ya !

That rule only applies to 4-day & Pro40 matches. For T20 they can have 2 overseas players.

Why would they hire Tamim when they have better openers than him?

Tamim's international T20 record is not that impressive but that doesn't mean that will be the case in county too. And he's a class act in other formats, especially in test as you already know.

Blessing in disguise may be. This boy needs some rest. And soon IPL will be calling him.

If not better, they have excellent batsmen in Alexei Kervezee and Moeen Ali. With Sakib and Solanki also in the team, taking Tamim would be overkill. Unless Worcs became like Chelsea after Abramovich's buyout, its not good business sense to go splurging on Tamim as well.

They have Mitchell, Ali, Cameron, Solanki, Kervezee. All are good local opening batsmen in all 3 formats. Tamim is also good but they don't need an opener from overseas.

What they need is a good allrounder and Shakib filled that position this year. They need him for next year as well.

County close on clinching Shakib return

Quote:
WORCESTERSHIRE’S director of cricket Steve Rhodes is hopeful Shakib Al Hasan will be back at New Road next season.
The County chief has had informal contact with the Bangladesh skipper about a return to Worcestershire next summer and he says the world’s number one one-day international all-rounder is keen to come back.
Shakib shone during his two months at New Road with 35 wickets in eight LV= County Championship Division Two matches to help the County to promotion.
It is that form with the ball and his destructive ability with the bat that has prompted Rhodes to try and secure Shakib’s return for part of the 2011 campaign.
“Shakib is a quality all-rounder and fitted in well,” the County director of cricket said.
“We have spoken. We are keen and Shakib is keen, it all now depends on his availability.”
Bangladesh are to host Australia in April for two Tests and three one-day internationals before touring Zim-babwe in late July.

Oh my gaawddd!! whyy? You have to play them every six months, twice a year?! This is such a over kill! I know we are helping them trying to rebuild, but that doesn't mean we gotta play them over and over and over again.

Thank you W for teaching S how to bat. His batting and cricketing IQ have made quantum leaps.

To be fair, Shakib was always as good with the bat. But yes, playing in the English conditions always improves a batsman and credit for Worcs in trusting him. On the other hand, his bowling got worse after bowling in bowler friendly pitches

No need to reschedule zim tour. Just release Shakib to play in county. We can still beat zim without Shakib.

^^ ditto. Do not need Shakib for the Zimb series. Get someone else, possibly Nafees.

If they can't beat Zim without Shakib than all the players from our team should just go jump off a bridge.

BTW, a bit offtopic- Moeen Ali of Worcs is coming to play for Mohamodon. (source: PA) Shakib must have worked as the mediator.

Shakib should play for BD instead of Worce if schedule clashes. Country is always bigger than county. We beat Zim 3-1 with Shakib this time. Next time we should focus on whitewash. Plus Shakib needs stats pad up.

Shakib doesn't need stats pad up by playing against Zim. If that's the case then people will call him a minnow basher like SN. We surely don't want that, do we?

Sorry no link atm wolf bro. You will have to look for it in the PA's sports page of last 3-4 days. But trust me, I'm not giving any false information.
