Default New players are all crap...no future whatsoever

It has been more than ten years, we are yet to produce another tamim, shakib, mushfiq or riad. These new guys like liton, shanto, mosaddek are not good enough for international cricket. They just don’t have the skillset. Years of selecting u-19 cricketers and discarding them after poor performance is costing us. Players like shahriar nafees, jahurul islam, mehrab jr, should have given more chances years ago. Now going forward, bd cricket’s future looks extremely bleak.

Unfortunately I think it is too late to re-utilize Nafis, Mehrab et. al.

We need a grueling ruleset for selection. A selector can only pick up from a bank - cannot just come in and do his thing the way he wants to.

For getting into BD national team certain criteria has to be met. Performance - Fitness - Batting - Bowling - Fielding all areas the mercury should be defined.

Also, playing only domestic and scoring doubles not helping. There should be set programs for HP and A squad playing touring internationally.

Playing and doing good U-19 cannot be the only criteria either. They have to be groomed like England, Aus, Ind does. If you are in business you need to take it professionally, casual handling will slowly cause the demise of Cricket like Football.

If for any season the quota of quality players are not fulfilled then scrap national tours and increase A level tours to prepare first. Jumping into the river without knowing all swimming techniques is not going to help.

There also should be some kind of Jobabdihita(justification/punishment) System for any failure - national level, A and age level, in case of faulty selection, poor performance, not able to meet the quota. I do not think we have much set rules in this sector.

Given that the way shahriar nafees, jahurul and mehrabs were handled, yes it is too late. However, if they were playing on the a team or hp team constantly and were in a pool of players that could be drafted into national teams, things could hv been different. Many of this players fades out because there is no hope of making it back to national team.
BCB needs to get rid of its policy of no players 30+. Look at the example of misbah, malik. You need groom all players and when selecting, dont just select players like shanto or liton who may be talented but not anywhere near international quality.

Another thing is, instill guts in our players. When tamim came out against India, he was 17. He hit zaheer, munaf like a boss. I dont see any aggression from these meeky menda newcomers.

Thats why despite all we need sabbir cuz his talent and how he is much better then other new players.

What makes it worse is that they are over hyped.

Sobor. They will come good. Two more games to show for. Win those two, we will have an extra game to see their talent. I am not giving up hope. It takes time to adjust. One must have patience. If we start chopping and changing we would be going back to the 00's.

Well Miraz is also young. He showed promise with ball and can be decent with the bat. We have to find few more like him

Doesn't BD play like a champion team after the intervention of the Pap?

This have happened on multiple occasions.

It's like he is pulling the strings of every player.

I think we have had some players out of the top 4 who have been great. Like Shabbir, Sarkar and Mustafiz, Mehedy the Fizz being the most consistent.

Issues are usually after a few innings and stardom they start relaxing and focus on off field things.
I think we have extremely poor mentoring as well. And overall all players lack discipline and have poor professional ethic bar one or two players.

You guys might disagree but we need a strong disciplinarian coach like Haturi who can manage egos and get players more professionals.

We dont need rubbish type coaches like Walsh in the side.

I agree. Bd team need a coach like haturu who kicks them in the back once in a while. We are shokter vokto noromer jom type jati. Haturi is perfect for our putu putu menda players and mangement dalals like Durjoy!

I don't care what you guys say Shabbir has been a better player than Mosaddek, at least Shabbir had a few match winning knocks , Mosaddek has just been freeloading on his average.

We dont need a Virat Kohli or a Dale Steyn, please give us another Tamim or Mushfiq or Shakib.

At the moment the new players are coming in and not doing anything, nothing at all. Once upon a time we at least had some players like Nasir and Soumya who came in and had a bright start to their career but they have thrown it all away, Taskin as well. If those young players had taken their game to the next level or at least maintained their standards we would not have been in this crisis now.

We desperately need the people in charge to change things down below, many of these young players are scoring heavily in domestics but cannot do zilch in internationals, there needs to be inspection on how things are going under the main team and if talent is getting properly identified or guided. If things doesnt change I fear we will be going back to 2000 era after the senior players are gone, we still have 4-5 years from them and things must change NOW before it's too late

The main problem is our pitches which we play our domestic cricket on. There is absolutely no help for the bowlers and the batsmen make a run fest out of it. Which gives us false hope, and we tend to believe that our young batsmen are very talented and world beaters. This needs to stop. At the moment The future is dark and alarming indeed

We are talking about younger players? Right? What work haturi actually done in his 3.5 years to develop a young talent , so that he deserve a mention here? Just show me an example.

He did jackshit. That's what he did. He is a great tactitian. But that's about it. He is no good at talent developing. Thats what we have been lacking since Siddons.

I hope Rhodes is good at it. I would give him at least a year before judging him.

You have said so many right things bro. Haturi didnt even bother to see the domestic matches forget about picking and developing a talent. Haturu was just lucky to have 5-6 players who were at peak. And they were the product of Siddons/McCinnes hard work. And he was also lucky to have Streak with him who did wonders with our pacers. We give so much credit to Haturu for no good reason. Haturu gave us two unfinished products. Shabbir and Sarker. Thats about it

Exactly. And here some poster keep mentioning his name at every given opportunities. At least know where he was good at it.

Talking about descipline, following rules. Was he any good at that either?

Dude basically manipulated his close relationship with paopn throughout his whole stay here to get what he wants. Spending most time of the year in vacation, getting his spot in the selection committee.

Anyway, let's see what Rhodes does. Early indications are good. He is eager to watch our domestic tournament. Already went to Ireland to watch our a games.

Dont understand what the hatred is for Haturi....he took over a team that egoistical bunch of kids that were losing to lowly associates and bring it all together. He benched a player like Shakib who wasnt even turning up to practise which I think was good for him. And Tamim who was fat and unfit suddenly matured. Giving him no merit doesnt make any sense at all. I dont think anyone is asking Haturi to come back, just someone with beside the coaching skills to deal with the discipline and professionalism of the team.

Alot of these new players dont pass the eye test, glaring deficiencies. That doesn't work in the modern limited overs game.

Sabbir & Sarkar those two actually pass the eye test. It's unfortunate, they dont have a Jamie Siddons to actually work with them. The way he did with Tamim and Mushy.

But you cant blame a coach if these guys, cant bat.

Like a Mehedi can be really good with some 1v1 training with both the bat and the ball. He's got potential, to be a very good batsmen. He's already a good bowler but he can be a great bowler

Relying on Mash is just too risky as well! Anytime someone is in the side for 5 overs of good bowling and captaincy, you know that team is not optimized to the fullest. Just facts.
