If Tamim was sacked I wouldn't mind, but Sakib? why?
he was still our best performer of the series.
So, who will lead us then? Mushy, no doubt!
I think there are more unknown things we will know soon, it can't be only the bad performance in Zim.

!meh!
What a GENIUS this Mostofa Kamal is! Such ingenuity! Cool down people, he is just doign this to divert the attention back to our local stars from Lionel Messi !
On a serious note though...Tamim had it coming, Shakib needed to be disciplined, not sacked!

After hitting rock bottom in Zimbabwe everybody knew something had to give...I also like the idea of introducing "a little anarchy" and starting with a clean slate.
Only problem is these are our two world class players and the only two that have cememted their places in the team. I think they could've been reprimanded and let off the hook after being given firm warning against creating any division in the team. However, in the long run both Tamim and Shakib will probably benefit more from this decision than anyone else.
Now it remains to be seen who are the new replacements and whether the move was merely a politically motivated one or not.

This is the great chance to show BCB that they can make a right decision.
If they fail to show it then what will be the conclusion? BCB is responsible
for the poor performance in Zimbabwe (for poor first class structure etc.).
I am eagerly waiting for the next two series.

ok ..... no panic .....
first we have to wait and see whats the reason behind this sacking.
1. is it poor performance as C and VC or is it the internal problems that kaaler kantho were always publishing ???
2. is it tactical ??? then BCB has to prove why the new recruits will be better than these two.
lets wait and see.

What's worse is that BCB is trying to cover up the pathetic performance in Zimbabwe with a sensational decision like this. Bangladesh DID NOT lose to Zimbabwe becasue of Shakib's captaincy -- they lost because they can't play on pitches away from home and lack of proper first-class structure. Instead of focusing on improving those areas, BCB, just like PCB, are deflecting the blame.

Sacking ki dorkar chilo? If they really wanted him out taile Shakib ke daak diye vodro vaabe resign korte bolle ki hoitona? This is a player that has performed really well for BD... he deserved better.
I wonder how much input Law has in this... and also the review reports by zimbabwe tour manager and bashar...

Shakib Al Hasan and vice-captain Tamim Iqbal have been relieved of their leadership roles following the team's failure on the Zimbabwe tour.
Bangladesh Cricket Board's media committee chairman Jalal Yunus told bdnews24.com on Monday, "The step has been taken based on the report placed by the team's manager and selectors."
However, the names of the new captain and vice captain have yet to be announced.

Why? What is the reason? Zim tour failure? If that is the reason then whole buch of BCB should be sacked stripped down to the street because of their incapability to handle any task what so ever.
Bhua lota.. bhua tutul... our cricket is in these morons hands.

As long as the 2 players are in the side , its ok.
Taking captaincy off from a player isn't always a bad thing.
This could be good for Shakib especially as he seems to be doing everything in the squad.
As for Tamim, don't think he really cares.
However saying that there is no one with the charisma to lead a team other than these 2.

I don't think BCB would have made this decision if their back wasn't against the wall with these two guys...
look at the chain of events:
-Shakib attacking Mashrafi and his fitness
-Shakib wanting Naeem and Roqibul who go on to play WC and flops
-Shakib attacking ex players in an article
-Shakib attacking akram khan for not consulting zimbabwe squad
-Reports of grouping within the team in the media
-Shakib being absent for commercial shooting during team practice
-Shakib not bowling during the first test and allowing partnerships to build
-Tamim making comments on Vitori
-Tamim arguing with Law
-Shakib saying he will play Champions league without taking NOC
I am sure there are more stories like this... most might be sensationalized by the media but some unfortunately could be true about these two best players of our squad
all these things are just signs of player power which has been on the rise since siddons era...
BCB has repeatedly warned these guys before but i guess in the end T & S felt they were bigger than the game
its simply a sad day for our cricket

FROM CRICINFO
Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal have been axed as Bangladesh captain and vice-captain respectively following the side's dismal performance on the recent tour of Zimbabwe.
"We thought they could improve their behaviour, but now we didn't have any choice but to go into a hardline," BCB media chairman Jalal Yunus said in a short press conference. "After we got our reports from the different people on tour, we got to this decision." Neither Shakib nor Tamim could be reached for comments.
Bangladesh were expected to prevail against Zimbabwe, who were making their Test return after five years out of the format, but slid to an embarrassing 130-run loss in the only Test in Harare. The defeat came after Tamim claimed that Zimbabwe's opening bowlers, Kyle Jarvis and Brian Vitori, were ordinary. Vitori and Jarvis chipped in with four-wicket hauls as Zimbabwe completed victory.
Bangladesh's misery continued in the five-match ODI series that followed, as they went down 0-3 before winning the dead rubbers. The BCB reacted to the loss by launching a probe to evaluate the team's performance.
Monday's announcement ended Shakib's eventful but troubled time in charge of the side. Despite being one of Bangladesh's best players, and among the top-ranked allrounders in the game, Shakib's off-field actions seemed to adversely affect his relationship with the BCB.
When he was asked to take over as captain "permanently but on a series-to-series basis", Shakib refused, a stance that did not go down well with the board. He led Bangladesh through a roller-coaster World Cup campaign where victories against England and Ireland came alongside embarrassing reversals against West Indies, South Africa and India. On the whole, Bangladesh did not live up the expectations that followed their 4-0 triumph against New Zealand that preceded the World Cup.
Shakib also had an uneasy relationship with the new selection panel, headed by former captain Akram Khan. Shakib said he was not consulted before the 15-man squad for Zimbabwe was picked, while Akram insisted he was.
More to follow …

Not a good decision I am afraid. No other player is a sure starter on every format. A captain must make it to the playing XI without any questions asked.

this is pure BS. the board n selectors are no one to judge if they are bhodro or not. we had the best players in the country who had the swagger n confidence to go flaunt it with their ability n they get shot down cos it dosnt go down with the older generation. man these fat corrupt people can go to hell n rot. they are in position to know better than our best players. if u dnt have a good relation, take it else where, but dnt preach this "bhodro" behavior ****. cos these days u need the swagger to be heard n be counted. we had 2 with those traits...but naaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh bhodro bhabe khelte hobeh nele boro ra rag korbeeeeeeeeeeeeee. all these bcb assholes can go die in a hole n rot. ruining our 2 gems.
n wtf is this bad behavior?!?!?!?!? they dnt drink, no fixing, no trouble no bans no nothing but its not good enuf?!?!?!!?!? wwtf do they want??????????? kiss their feet?!!??!?!?!

Totally shocked by the news! Bad decision as Shakib IS the best captain we have till now. We are losing because the whole team (minus Shakib) did poorly. I suppose, reading between the lines, he was sacked mainly due to his offline behaviour. He is far too out spoken for his own good.
I feel sad. Good luck Shakib n Tamim. I hope they don't just go and retire from cricket now!!
