Why no AlAmin? One of the best pacers for bangladesh in the last two years. Always had the nag of picking up wickets. Why would you drop him?

Anyway, good luck to Shafiul. Lets hope he won't be needed anyway with Taskin cleared in next few days.

Faruk had the freedom to pick the team on his own. He used to discuss the proposed team with our coach but final decision was taken by Faruk with Papon's approval. Haturu and Faruk didnt have a smooth journey together. Jubair, Mominul and few other player's inclusion and omission created few disagreements between them

Unlike Faruk, Nannu is part of a selection team that includes Haturu. So dont think Nannu can pick a team without Haturu's consent. So exclusively blaming Nannu may not be correct.

^^ If it was Hathuru's choice, I would be even ok with it. But Walsh being allowed to kick out a main bowler from the team (AA's ODI average is second only to that of Fizz atm) only after observing the pacers for a week or so in the nets - that does not make sense what so ever.

And then Nannu comes and makes lame excuses trying to justify the decision in front of media...

Nannu had to justify the selection somehow. So gave lame excuses. But read somewhere that AA came late to practice. and coaches didnt like that. Dont know if that is the case and has anything to do with his exclusion

Anybody that have watched Shafiul in a real match would have known he is someone rather easy to rattle, despite how good he may look in nets. As I said before, the difference in match performances between AA and Shafiul is day and night.

A pacer having attitude issue is nothing new, all the teams in the world have dealt with someone like that one point or other. You don't replace your main bowler with a dudbhat bowler just because of his attitude.

Someone like Faruk would have made his stance against this sort of ludicrous demand.

Please dont forget that it was During Faruk's era that AA was sent back home from Australia and was replaced by Shafiul. I do agree that many teams have dealt with this issue but Hatutu is very serious about discipline. So unless AA does something to address this issue, chances are very slim of him coming back. At least thats the vibe I am getting.

I would rather have AA than Shafiul to be honest. But it is what it is

Player management is not a selector's responsibility, it's the responsibility of coach-captain-team manager. Whatever happened in Australia, I don't think Faruk was in a position to decide whether to punish AA or let him stay with the team.

Faruk had put AA back in the squad after his punishment period was over.

Exactly, and that could be the reason why team management was so reluctant to include AA. Nannu just followed the instruction since chief selector is no longer as powerful as it was during Faruk

Bewildered Al-Amin refutes fitness claim
Quote:
According to available statistics Sabbir Rahman gathered 13.1 point to secure first position in the beep test while Al-Amin earned 12.8 to come second among the 30-member preliminary squad.

‘There is nothing I can do but I was one of the fittest members during the camp,’ Al-Amin told New Age hours after his exclusion.

‘I was the fittest among the pace bowlers and even proved myself the second fittest person in the whole squad,’ said Al-Amin.

‘They [selectors] are saying this because they have to make an excuse,’ he said. ‘But despite doing so well during the fitness if I am not chosen because of lacking fitness that is simply unfortunate,’ he said.

Selectors in their press conference initially said Al-Amin has some disciplinary issues but later clarified by saying that he lacked discipline only on the field.

‘I played three series after World Cup. I played in the Asia Cup and ICC World Twenty20 and the series against Zimbabwe,’ said Al-Amin.

There was no problem with my fielding or discipline but suddenly all these things are coming up,’ he said.

‘I picked 25 wickets, probably the second highest wicket taker in the domestic league (third among the pacers) while I was also the man of the match during the last game against Zimbabwe.

‘I was the highest wicket taker in the Asia Cup but still if someone doesn’t pick me what can I say,’ said a bewildered Al-Amin.

Al-Amin refused to make any comments regarding his relationship with coach Chandika Hathurusinghe, who is now also a selector.

There is whisper in cricketing circle that after returning back to the team with the coach he hardly shares anything with Hathurusinghe apart from hi and hello.

true, but Shakib, Riyad, Nasir, Taijul, Sabbir is more then enough spin combo to trouble most opposition, not just afghanistan

If Mash, Rubel, Shafiul all fail with the ball, we still have close to 35-40 overs of spin left.

^^ Who are your death over bowlers?

Over reliance on spinners will make things difficult for us even against Afghans.

but that's taking a step back. its the pacers who are winning the games. even in the WC game, we defeated them with the seamers..
