Question Cricket Trade

The free agency/trade market is a huge opportunity for professional U.S. franchises to upgrade team weaknesses or build/invest for future. In trades, teams engage with one another to cater to their immediate specific needs. With that in mind, an interesting hypothetical question came to my mind and i'm wondering your perspective.

Assume the national cricket teams were franchises and Bangladesh was marketing around for a top notch Bowler, and Pakistan put up Mohammed Aamer in the market. Obviously, Bangladesh doesn't have much trade bait for Pakistan to be interested in other than potentially Tamim (to fill their current opening void) or Shakib (long term allrounder prospect).

Which of the following offers would you (GM of BD team) feel reasonable in return for Mohammed Aamer and are willing to parcitipate in towards improvement of BD? Lets Keep both teams interests in mind with a fair assessment of talents.

1) Aamer for Tamim
2) Aamer for Shakib
3) Aamer for Tamim/Shakib plus someone (specify)
4)Tamim/Shakib for Aamer plus someone (specify)
5) Both Tamim and Shakib for Aamer plus someone (specify)

Aamer for Ashraful.

If it were Tamim or Shakib, Pakistan would have to trade in Aamer and throw in MoYo.

If i had to part with one of them in return for Aamer, I would definitely select Shakib rather than Tamim. I think Tamim is much more intrigal to team success atm.

If Ashraful were brought up in any part of the discussion (even if it is a free thow in), i think the conversation would halt right on the spot with immediate exit.

Aamer for Ash sounds just fine

On a serious note, Shak+Tamim->Aamer+Moyo sounds fair deal

Tamim out, and you have batsmen like Kayes, Zunaed, Zahurul who can all perform decently.

But bowling is absolutely Shakib centric. The next closest thing you can rely on is who, Shafiul? Mortaza ain't test material. Don't overlook what Shaks has done to the team, just coz he's goin through a rough patch with the bat.

If we're trading, I'll trade Watto for Tamim and Steyn for Mash. Or I'll take the whole Pak team for Tamim + Shakib. Else I'm not trading. Also, I'm giving Ash away for free.

Interesting thread. i think most of the international teams would be more than happy to have Tamim or Shakib in their teams. Their quality is self explanatory.
If we had to trade, we should trade in a world class seamer, and that would be Dale Steyn in my opinion. I think Dale Steyn is the best pacer in the world and South Africa would happily take a spinner of Shakib's caliber. Ideally, South Africa won't take any other player from our team, they don't need Tamim. So it will be Shakib-> Steyn.
And we can perhaps get Watson/Hauritz/Angelo Matthews -> Tamim.

The only suitable trade for Tamim would be Watson in my opinion. I don't think I'd trade Steyn for Shakib as age as well as Steyn's effectiveness in BD pitches wouldn't be as great.

I'd trade Tamim and Ash for Aamer and two first round picks, in other words, two young up and coming fast bowlers who have the potential to make it into their national squad, i.e. Wahab Riaz. That should be a fair trade given many of these talented Pakistani bowlers will never get the chance to represent their country as the competition for those few spots is so stiff.

On the other hand, with Zunaid and Imrul at the top/Shak in the middle coupled with a strong pace attack/decent spin I'd like our chances against the weaker test nations on any given day as even top teams like Aus and Eng keep struggling against quality pace attacks.

Ash might not be appreciated nor will Aftab be taken as a compliment.

Tendulkar for Ashraful... indian team needs an arrogant batsman.
Dilshan for Javed Omar... Bangladesh is getting the short stack of the deal, but still close enough...
Sangakkara for Khaled Mashud... Sri lanka is getting solid experience...
Gayle for Mehrab Hossain jr... WI needs a slow player to hold the innings...
Steyn for Tapash Baissya... SA could use a colored person in their team...
Asif for Dilshan... Pakistan needs a good opener...
Aamir for Shariar Nafees... Pakistan needs another opener...
Afridi for Nazimuddin... Pakistan needs another opener...
Umar Gul for Nafees Iqbal... Pakistan needs another opener...
Ricky Ponting for Siddons... Both australians, fair enough...
Amla for Mohammed Sharif... south africa doesn't have any bowlers that bowls 70 mph...

Back with a bang. Very funny.

How about a straight swap between Mehrab jr and Boycott. I am tired of listening to Boycott's mom.

I wouldn't trade Tamim and Shakib for any player in the world. Besides, why would anyone in their right minds want to bring in a disgraced cricketer such as Ameer and Asif? I would rather watch Ashraful's sheepish smile on a duck a thousand times than read about a match fixing scandal. I am thankful that none of our boys have ever disgraced us in such manners.

What are you telling, pak will be happy to exchange their entire team with ours. because almost all of their players sell their skills in black market, can any biz sustain that for long? PCB is almost bankrupt for that, while players are earning in Black.
