In your opinion what is the best batting innings ever?
Some would say SriLanka' 399 in the WC or England's 391 on us .
But in my opinion it has to be NZ vs USA in the ICCCT.
NZ were 45/2 @ over 15 and were 200 up @ over 40.
Then in the last 10 overs they scored 147 runs!

The best battiing innings is definatly the Australians 359-2 in the World Cup Final.
Why? Because they did it when it really matters, on the biggest stage of all. It was an awesome performance.
Pontings innings was also the best one day innings I think, 140* with 4 fours and 8 sixes. Some of them sixes were some of the biggest I have ever seen and landed in pigeon territory,

Can I dare to call Bangladesh's successful and satisfying run chase against the Aussies is the best batting display ever ? Well, yes...atleast when you think of the practical difference between the quality of the Australian bowling and Bangladeshi batting!

Seleem Malik's innings againest India at Calcutta in 1987. Pak were dead and buried chasing 240 in 40 overs. Pak were 160 odd with 3 wickets and 8 overs remaining, from tht Pak won with balls to spare.
In test N Iqbal's againest Zim in Dhaka.

Living in Australia I do support the Aussies 2nd to Bangladesh so it hurts me to say this but the 2nd test India vs Australia in 2001 where Laxman got 281 and Dravid scored his century. The bowling was top class, the batting was just unbelievable, insane!!

I don't like ponting. But it still was among the greatest innings. The partnership of Martyn/Ponting reminded me of Richards/King in 1979 world cup. Richards' 189 vs England was another great knock. The second highest was only 26 or so. Last wicket he had a partnership of 100 runs. Salim Malik vs India in 1986-87 Calcutta was great one. Sachin vs Akhtar in WC 2003 is another. Can think of a few more like this.

Yes in testcricket, VVSL's 281 was terrific terrific stuff. India was following on and went on to win the game and the series eventually. Aussies had won 17 games on a trot before that game.

Lara's 153* in 1999 game vs Aussies was another great knock. Probably the greatest ever knock.

C'mon, they were playing USA, a team that would lose to most 2nd division team in Dhaka.

I think you can easily call that innings at least "one of the best", given the disparity in the two teams.

some of the best ODI innings i have seen in no particular order:
sachin's 100 against australia at sharjah
pontings century in 2003 world cup finals
steve waugh's half century against SA in league stages of '03 world cup
de silva 100 in 96 WC finals
inzy's whirlwind innings against NZ in 92 WC semis
ganguly's 180 against srilanka
ashraful's 94 against england
there are tons of others in that list. but these are just some individual innings that will live with me forever...
