Match Referee Rejected Bangladesh’s Complain against Wicket-keeper Jones
“Guardian” reported that Match Referee Alan Hurst rejected Bangladesh’s Complain against English Wicket-keeper Geraint Jones for the fraudulent catch to dismiss Nafis Iqbal on the 2nd Test. Alan Hurst rejected the complain saying that “the footage was inconclusive or that Jones himself could not have been sure whether the ball had carried”
Quote from Guardian:
“Bangladesh's fury was reserved for Geraint Jones, whose catch to dismiss Nafees Iqbal on Saturday led them to lodge an official complaint yesterday morning with the match referee Alan Hurst. TV footage clearly showed that Jones had taken the ball on the bounce, but Hurst rejected Bangladesh's complaint, deciding the footage was inconclusive or that Jones himself could not have been sure whether the ball had carried. “

Inconclusive !!! amazing conclusion by the match refree. Thats fine. We saw what happened. Its not only Jones, but there were at least five players in close proximity including Jones ( slips and gully included ) and to say that all of them missed it is saddening to see. Not one guy could tell his skip that the ball may have not carried? Anyway..its all in the past. Verdict has been given and we must mover forward from it. It says a lot about peoples character.
I wish the match refree was Clive Lloyd...

To the Match Referee: Alan Hurst:
It is difficult to face the truth when it goes against the big guys. When you are judge, do what you should do , no mater what is the consequence. In long run, It will be good for you.

This is really sad... I thought the match referee would be impartial.

If jones was not sure why claim the catch and appeal to the umpire ??
Umpire should have called for TV Replay.
And Nafis should have stood his ground.
Anyway it's not the end of the world, so let's move on!!

'Inconclusive'
Don't say I didn't tell you that would be the decision.
However, if it was Clive Lloyd the whole England team would probably be forced to forfeit the Ashes. Lloyd hates Vaughan.

This is an issue India and Pakistan has complained on many occassions, the double standard maintain by ICC. An offense that see a non Ausralian or English player get severe punishment, will see less or no punishment when the offender is Australian or English.
There is not much we can do about it. Where India with experienced politician's like Dalmia fails, what can we do.
Accept this and move on.

A fundamental principle in umpiring is that when there is a doubt the decision must go in favor of the batsman. This is and was true for both Nafis' and Basher's dismissals. It can be argued that the later is a judgment call and there is a room for error. However, in case of Nafis, it is simply incompetence on the part of the presiding umpire.
I am most surprised by Jones silence. Why doesn't he say that he thought the ball carried or he was not sure at the time? Instead we took the fifth. To lot of us that is an admission of guilt. Finally, it is shame that the match referee snubbed any prospect investigation under his boots.
Weaker teams always get a bigger share of bad decisions and while they can ill afford even a single one. Only way combat this type discrimination is to answer it on the field by overcoming such miscues, inadvertent or otherwise, by the superior performance,

Guess what would be the decision if it was Khaled Masud Pilot? Anyway lets leave it and Bangladesh should concentrate on batting 50 overs in all the 1 day matches.

That's what it supposed to happen ..... It wasn't Jones fault at all . Any player of any team will do that . Umpire decisions are the final ........ Everyone loves to get a catch .......... for his personal record it's very important.
Umpires not asking so , why he will answer anyway ? Flintoff didn't even appeal much though ..... Umpires they don't have any doubts ,,,,,,so ,that's out ......... It's a not a good decisions but things like that always happenning in the cricket and it will happen again and again .........

The news is not official-
"Bangladesh manager MA Latif, who made the complaint to Australian match referee Allan Hurst, when contacted said that he was yet to make a verdict on that issue."

But note, Pakistan Captain Rashid Latif lost his cricket career by stealing a similar catch against Bangladesh. If that is not only the reason for his removal from international cricket, it was at least the start. He was suspended for 5 one day matches. The impact of that catch was extremely high, BD could have won that test match. For this one, BD may have avoided the innings defeat, but regardless the impact, this is a similar moral case and it is hard to believe wk didnt have any doubt on that catch
