Default forget pace/forget swing if u cant bowl line and length...

For batting, timing is everything.

For bowling, it's line and length. That's the basic, the fundamental, the foundation or watever you like to call when it comes to bowling.

Whats the point of throwing the ball at 150 mph if you cant control it and bowling all over the place...

swing can be deadly if bowled with good line...otherwise useless

Mash, Nazmul and Syed Rasel are three bowlers who does the basic right. whenever they played we restricted the opposition under good score. I am sure there are other bowlers who fall into this category.

Whats the obsession of our selectors with bowlers who cant bowl but has bit of speed in terms of our standard. Is it because they werent very good at playing them? or it is that, it takes a shahadat to select a shahadat?

When are we gonna see bowlers being pick for doing the basic right, low economy rates, good line and length, who doesnt bowl wide outside off stump? I do think that we have bowlers like that but our shahadat type selectors neglects them.

There is zero hope in terms of selection. Firstly because the Selectors keep giving contradicting statements. Like Taskin has to play more domestic while Abul gets a free pass. Most of our sports journalists like writing fluff pieces for the news paper instead of digging deep into stats and make some good analysis. The media should have grilled Akram and co regarding our pace bowling selection, especially the selection of Shahadat for the limited overs series. We put up a competitive total in the first ODI and we certainly could have pushed Sri Lanka if the pacers didn't bowl rubbish in the first 10 overs. We also could have won the T-20 if we had Zia or any decent medium pace bowler in place of Shahadat. After the tour nothing was asked to the team management or selectors and so you can expect the same kind of selection practices to continue

Not a single daily is grilling the selectors? Shameful.

Thats what i wonder, why cant a single reporter write some tough articles on the selection. Why is everyone being so conservative after the selection debacle. And Shahadat Hossain again?

In 1st BPL I have seen Al Amin Hossain. He is not much fast. Bowl around 130. I like this guy. I hope he will do good.

Ma O Mati vai thanks for a good thread.
No doubt L/L is the main factor in bowling. As u said Mash,Nazmul and Russel all are good bowler in short format. But speed is a major factor. None of Russel and Nazmul are effective in tests. L/L option is more important in short format. But in tests pace is a major issue.

In recent times Mash rely more on cutters rather than swing. Specially to the left handed batsman. In last WI series he was bowling lot of off cutters to Gayle.

Mashrafe can move the ball both ways-swings and cuts.
