Methods
For each country we used data on body mass index (BMI) and height distribution to estimate
average adult body mass. We calculated total biomass as the product of population size and
average body mass. We estimated the percentage of the population that is overweight
(BMI > 25) and obese (BMI > 30) and the biomass due to overweight and obesity.

Some of those arab countries have small populations, which probably worked against them. Surprised Samoa isn't right up there...I don't think I've ever met a skinny pacific islander

You're surprised Bangladesh as one of the poorest nations on earth and still facing massive issues with malnutrition is one of the lightest nations in the world?

That theory only applies to middle class and up. Hard working lower class people don't get fat after marriage.

If you notice it is mostly the oil rich ones.
Diet of youngsters seem to revolve round fast food. Even traditional food is carbs and sugar heavy
Hot weather means you cannot walk as much as you would want to
People act extremely lazy, I have seen some rich people ask waiters to fill their plates from a buffet because they do not want to walk up there
Malls often have people movers; you would expect the elderly to use it, but from what i see , young able bodied people use it instead of walking 200 yards
Another trend seen here: people drive up to stores, and honk for the shopkeeper to attend to them, instead of parking and walking 15 yards to the store.
