Default How pleased are you with the 2019 WC squad as it is now?

BCB brass has indicated that the squad could be revised pending injury (obviously) and performance in the tri series. Tri series will feature extra two players Yasir and Nayeem.

Once again here is the squad:

1) Mashrafee Mortaza
2) Tamim Iqbal
3) Shakib Al Hasan
4) Mushfiqur Rahim
5) Mahmudullah
6) Mohammad Mithun
7) Mosaddek Hossain
8) Liton Das
9) Soumya Sarkar
10) Mehidy Hasan Miraz
11) Mustafizur Rahman
12) Rubel Hossain
13) Mohammad Saifuddin
14) Abu Jayed
15) Sabbir Rahman

X) Yasir Ali
X) Nayeem Hasan

I've included the extras because there is a reasonable chance for BCB to revise the squad given how many of the 15 have poor batting form.

If they fire in 6 out or 9 games, any combination of the 15 will get us through inshallah. They just have to be very positive and aggressive.

Dreaming of the semis. But I will take as many “upsets” as they can deliver.

Everybody please be hopeful and cheerful. This is it. This is the final 15. You may have had other picks in mind, but now GET BEHIND THE BOYS.

Very pleased! this is the best 15, as of today. Love to see Yasir and nayeem in the tri-series, and would be happy with either's inclusion. For once, great work BCB selectors. Although lets get real, Mash prob had a lot to do with it.

For once, no weird unjust inclusions, no surprise picks. Atleast when we lose, we will lose with the best possible XI.

Bingo.

I too am dreaming of the semis. If we play as well as we can, with a little luck, we can make the semis. And then its just a matter of having a good day.

The way I see it, BD could get 5 wins. If we beat all 3 of the teams ranked below us (AFG, WI, SL) and then win vs PAK (50-50 odds here), all we need is 1 upset from the other 5 games.

Assuming all teams lose 1 game, the 4 semifinalists could be something like this:

8-1
7-2
6-3
5-4

We could be that 5 win team.

I suspect we will win 3 games. We will beat one of the higher ranked teams (one of NZ, ENG, PAK), but that upset will be offset by losing to one of the lower ranked teams (most likely AFG or WI). Such is the BD way.

Still a little iffy on Mosaddek.

First of all, He is a middle order batsmen, he is not the type who can come and blast away and yet every time he plays for Bangladesh men's national team that's what is expected of him. other than Mosaddek, I think every other selection was justified.

I wonder who in the world thinks of Mosaddek as a lower order quick run getter like Sabbir, someone must have brain damage to consider him such type of player.

Its based on how he did in his rookie DPL season, I personally don't look too deep into DPL performances...

the selectors probably heard Al Furqaan's whinging about having Mosaddek in the team. And the selectors buckled.

54 not out and 3 wickets today vs Mohammedan. He's averaging over 50 although his strike rate is poor. He needs to bat up the order. I suspect once Mithun fails the first 3 games, Mosaddek will come in from there.

Except the Rahi selection, the squad is ok.

I am not surprised to see the result...knowing our "cricket (emotional) fans"...

-> they want Imrul because he had scored against Zimbabwe...
-> they want "kanduni" Taskin because he can cries...
-> they want Reza & Anamul because they are domestic bully...

Ya...nothing new here...

IMHO, selectors gave us the best possible set of players currently we have...

I am not pleased with the selection of Liton and Soumya. The selectors are blind or what they saw Liton flopping in Nz odi with three scores of 1. And Soumya is more disappointing b/c he always throws away his start even in dpl. These two are no good for international level. At least keep Liton for 'T20 but not for Odi or Test. Especially with a average of 19 after 27 odi indicates his inconsistency as a batsman. He is surely capable with a lot of talent but he has to remain consistent. Soumya is a lost case how many chances does this motherchod need? Only 1 good innings after 10 to 20 matches is good enough to you guys? Wouldn't you prefer someone willing to learn like Jaharul,Naeem Raqibul Yasir or Shadman?
