Yup, that is how T20s are supposed to be played really. Doesn't have the technique, not the strongest batsman in the world. Yet he played with a lot of maturity as he should be in a T20 match. The thing about Shakib is, when under the pump he deliver the goods. When the rest of the team performs he lose his composure and starts playing reckless cricket.

Regardless, this is what 163 T20 matches experience can do to a player.

I was looking at his T20i stats and suddenly remembered his 66 against Australia in the World T20 in Dhaka. That was a good innings. Are there any highlights available? I haven't found any yet.

Thanks a lot! Some really clean strikes there, against pretty decently fast bowling.

People didn't remember mostly because Australia were a bad team in the tournament with a single win in this match. But you'll get better Shakib innings I guess.

What a stupid analysis on Shakib's innings. He is the Best BD batsmen who can take single and make it look like easy. They were complaining (Crininfo article - Most likely Isam's) against his dot balls. How uninformed these analysts are.

no need to let him bat in any position before no.6 . Anything he scores with the bat is bonus nowadays.

Yet it takes two bad games for people to take their knives out.

Or they forget how coolly he finished the innings (not out at a good SR) in the first two games. The funny thing is, he doesn't look out of form; his judgement of the situation in this match was atrocious though.

Exactly why the knives are out. We really needed him in the last 2 matches. Big man performs in big games.

But on both occassions he failed, particularly with inability to read the match situation

Should have opened the bowling to provide the initial breakthrough or slowed the rr down.

In the grander scheme of things, none of these matches were 'big', as there was no threat of elimination or a big prize to be won. Let's keep the knives sheathed till after the Asia Cup and World T20

Meh not too worried about Shakib, you can tell he's not interested in these low profile games, especially when he has a newly born daughter he'd rather spend time with. Give him Pak or India, like the upcoming Asia Cup, as the opposition and you're in for a treat.

its not because he failed... its how he failed. 3rd match.... literally lost us the match. When he came to bat, we were in it big time and even if he got out in the first delivery, it wouldve been better then him playing 10 deliveries for 3 runs. He looked clueless and didnt know how to find the gap. He would try to drag short outside of leg deliveries and cut it to off. his bowling has been very ordinary too. His line has been very poor and every time he tried to flight the bowl, he ended up over pitching it.

I know he will take PCL seriously and I know he will perform there. I just hope he comes back strong for Asia Cup.

Shakib is now no.2 on ICC ODI Bowlers rankings:

ওয়ানডে বোলারদের র‌্যাংকিংয়ে দুইয়ে উঠলেন সাকিব

His test bowling though has gone down the drain. T20 bowling too.

Bowls too much on the leg side
