Default 'Our best chance in Sri Lanka'

Bangladesh captain Mushfiqur Rahim has said he wants to correct Bangladesh's woefully poor record in Sri Lanka. They have lost all eight Tests played there since 2001, but he believes the current team is capable of making a difference this time.
"The tour is a big opportunity if we can play to our potential," Mushfiqur said. "We don't have a good record in Sri Lanka. So to do well we have to continue playing the way we have in the last 12 months."

Mushfiqur hoped to use the momentum from Bangladesh's last international series, where they pushed West Indies in the Tests and beat them in the ODIs. He was also encouraged by the dearth of experienced bowlers in Sri Lanka and the major injury concerns for the home side, although Bangladesh are also without their most effective player, allrounder Shakib Al Hasan.

I do agree with Mushy too - if we can play with confidence and to our potentials, with a bit of luck, we can win a test in SL soil.

I have faith in Mushy (being son of ATMR!).

I hope he is right.

After sucessfull series with WI without Sakib and some promising performance by local players (new and establsihed) in local tournaments made me more hopefull.

yes with this young team, we can collupse totally, but on we may find some gem out of this young squard.

Tamim, Rahim, and Riyad are in form and expected to do good.
Looks like SN and Jahirul is in form.
Nasir and Anamul is doing great so far.
Mominul and marshal are unknown, lets see which way they go.
Sunny and Shohag both showed promise, and Shohag has the fearless 'X' factor that is needed to be superstar
The question mark is Abul, Rubel, Rabiul, Shahadat combo. Shahdat ususally gets some wickets in TEST, lets see what he does. For the rest, I trust the coach, he must have seen something, so they may not be as bas as some fans are predicting.

One thing for sure, we will do better than ever in SL pitches. Thanks to Murali and Vass not being there. But, then again nobody remembers "doing well" if you cannot "win"

Sl is also relatively young team with some unproven players and as a team with some mixed results.

As long as our senior players plays their role, I think the new blodds have enough talent to make something good happen.

the key issue is, can the seniors (Tamim, SN, Ryiad, Rahim, Shahadat) can play their role?

I echo what Mushy said. Even without Shakib, this is the best chance we have got in SL in years. Just hope the pacers don't screw it up.

So much optimism building up.

I will just go into this series without any expectations, so that I don't have to sulk every night for the remainder of the tour.

With so many players dropping out with injury at the last moment, I worry if all the players are 100% fit.

^^ Shahadat left the field during BCL final limping, though he denied having any injury (ie another player hinding injury).

Shahadat injury, if true, is a huge blow for Sri Lanka

is SN injury confirmed? if so, then who will take his place?

Here is the visual proof (looks like he is about to cry)

Shamsur Rahman is the only other top order batsman in the preliminary 25 players selectors picked, but not in the current squad. But my gut feeling is that ZuSi will get a call back, though he was not included in the preliminary.

My wish list
Shamsur to replace Shahriar Nafees
Marshall to replace Naeem
Nazmul to replace Shahadat (if injured)

Sri Lanka's test pace attack is probably a shade worse then WI's pace attack. So i dont think we will have too much trouble handling the pacers. The huge question mark will be over our pace attack. Looks like we will be relying on our spinners to take all the 20 wickets.

Batting wise we look fine.

well, if we can beat WI without Shakib then why not SL? but realistically we have no chance.
