Can we have the table for one other team for comparison - WI or NZ if possible - for the last 4 years or so to see where we stand

I would like to see Rafique, Tapash, Rana, and Tareq Aziz as well. You will be surprised with the stat when you include them.
Tareq has an amzing power of being "not out". He has mastered the tecqnique of patience and courage.

One more thing babubangla. If you could please give us the stat for the retired players such as Naimur, Bulbul, Akram, Nannu, Shahriar and recent discard Al Shahriar and Sanwar.
Once you do that we will see how far we have progressed since the earlier generation.

Awesome stats babubangla..
Another analysis worth watching would be the ratio between the way each of our current pool of batsmen tend to get out(% of bowled/LBW/Caught behind/Caught/Runout of each batsman..)
It was interesting to calculate & compare the % of runs scored by BD batsmen through bouneries, compared to their total runs... and cross check that % with top class batsmen of other Teams..
But obviously I was not as good with handling statistics as you.. and I could follow some matches between BD & NZ last year.. I think it would be an interesting stat to go through if u can elaborate it more..
Here is the comparison

For stats positionwise please click the links below.......
You can also configure parameters to get desired output.
Khaled Masud
Nafiz Iqbal
Habibul Bashar
Md Ashraful
Aftab Ahmed
Rajin Saleh
Interesting facts......
a) In ODIs, Rajin prefered to bat at 4 where he scored 218 runs (average 15.57) in 14 matches. He is far more successful up the order. His batting averages at top order are......
Position 1 - 4 Matches - 125 Runs - 31.25 Average - 77 Highest - 1 50's - 75.30 Strike rate
Position 2 - 3 Matches - 110 Runs - 36.67 Average - 82 Highest - 1 50's - 64.33 Strike rate
Position 3 - 7 Matches - 215 Runs - 30.71 Average - 71 Highest - 2 50's - 60.56 Strike rate
b) Ash should bat at 5 or 6 in tests! Bulk of his runs including his 2 tons and 4 50's he scored batting at 5 or 6 in tests. Be advised to avoid looking at his ODI average batting position wise, else you'd be in for a rude shock!
c) No question about where Bashar should bat in tests. But in ODIs he looks almost semi-decent at 4.
Position 3 - 39 Matches - 677 Runs - 17.36 Average - 70 Highest - 6 50's - 60.07 Strike rate
Position 4 - 17 Matches - 438 Runs - 27.38 Average - 74 Highest - 3 50's - 61.17 Strike rate

one good thing to notice in the chart: our players got out in nervous 90s only 3 times.
babubangla, once again, u are doing a good job with stats. if u can keep doing it, i'd like to ask mod's if they can give babubangla a position as tintin's 2nd, and give him a label "banglacricket staff" or more customized "bangla cricket stat assistant" or something like that.

is it possible for someone to put an analysis of bd team performance on year by year basis. Obviously bd was preety weak in the beginning, but the present/coming geneation is quite good and also last 1-2 years bd has done quite well i guess compared to 2000-2003

It is natural to see bowlers will produce low scores and batsmen are expected to score big enough to compensate for those. Including 3 all-rounders, 3 wicketkeepers and 2 batting-capable bowlers, 26 out of our 40 test players could be considered as our batting strength side of the team. But even taking the batsmen-only stats don't give us any better picture. See below:
0 to 9 Runs= 240 (41.52%)
10 to 19 Runs=115 (19.90%)
20 to 29 Runs= 83 (14.36%)
30 to 39 Runs= 45 (7.79%)
40 to 49 Runs=29 (5.02%)
50 to 59 Runs=20 (3.46%)
60 to 69 Runs=14 (2.42%)
70 to 79 Runs=13 (2.25%)
80 to 89 Runs=6 (1.04%)
90 to 99 Runs=3 (0.52%)
100+ Runs=10 (1.73%)

I think comparative analysis of pre and post Whatmore era, instead of the 'one shot' will yield a better and more realistic picture. The learning curve was virtually non-existant in the earlier days. In a way, we started to play testing tests AW (After Whatmore) only.

Good Idea Indeed!!
I posed this pre and post Whatmore era comparison in a separate thread at Bangladesh Test Innings: Pre and Post Whatmore Era Comparison
Thanks for the idea, Chinaman.
